- October 23, 2013 In Burlington Vermont, Alaiksandr Bychkou, 32, told authorities a cover story that voices told him there was a treasure in the steeple at the College Street Congregational Church but he didn't find any. He was found in the church basement as the steeple erupted in flames and smoke. Bychkou is a Belarus native who overstayed his visa. He was facing federal deportation proceedings in 2014. He was warned four years before he was in the United States illegally and was facing a deportation proceeding in Boston in 2014.He was picked up in Reno, Nevada, and was deportable. The church was not destroyed, but the steeple was a total loss.
- Child Fires AR-15 Carried On Chino Police Motorcycle At School Wednesday October 23, 2013 A child walked up to a police motorcycle in China California during a anti-drug program at an elementary school. The weapons mount had several fail-safes, including a metal plate blocking the barrel. Nevertheless, the the child found or knew a way to managed to fire it, and fragments when the bullet hit the guard plate struck some students. Rifles have been removed from other police motorcycles while the shooting is investigated.
- Police Kill 13 Year Old Who Would Not Drop Replica Rifle October 23, 2013 An eighth-grader who attended Cook Middle School in Santa Rosa was fatally shot in South Santa Rosa by Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies Tuesday afternoon after failing to comply with deputies' orders to drop what turned out to be a replica AK-47 assault rifle
- Vancouver boy 11 bring handgun, knives and ammo to school October 23, 2013 Vancouver, Washington An 11-year-old boy is arrested for investigation of attempted murder after bringing a gun, knives and more than 400 rounds of ammunition to his Vancouver middle school, and he has been expelled. The parents called after they noticed knives were missing. Frontier Middle School notified police that ammo had been discovered at the school. There were no previous indications of problems with the student.
