- September 5, 2014 incident Man arrested for Haverhill MA bathhouse bombing (WHDH) - A Haverhill (Boston area) man Matthew Madden was arraigned on felony explosive device and arson related charges. Haverhill Police, along with state and federal agencies, searched for Matthew Madden, 20, for allegedly placing a homemade bomb loaded with shrapnel on top of a public bathhouse in the Haverhill Stadium recreation area. The device caught fire but did not explode.

The High School as well as the Middle School were evacuated while police secured the schools for a search. One passenger was killed when he was shot in the head, two others were hospitalized. The suspects may be the same wanted for crime spree in the area. Another homicide victim was found inside a burning car, while he third was killed after a car pulled alongside and opened fire. Witnesses saw a pickup drive up to another victim and heard gunshots, while at 9 a.m. two black males were found dead of gunshot wounds in St Louis.
