July 15, 2018 Murder of Weymouth Police Officer Michael Chesna Emanuel “Manny” Lopes is accused of crashing his car and then running away. Boston Globe (1) reports he was soon confronted by Weymouth police Officer Michael C. Chesna when Lopes allegedly threw rocks at a Burton Terrace home. Chesna ordered Lopes to stop throwing stones, but bashed Chesna in the head with a stone, stole his firearm, and shot Chesna in the head and chest with his own gun. Another officer arrived and shot Chesna in the leg, who fled and accidentally shot 2 bullets into a sliding glass window least two bullets through the sliding glass door of a home, fatally wounding a woman with a "stray" bullet.
