April 6, 2013 Kou Thao fatally shot and dismembers Tong Pao in WI In Milwaukee, police investigated a missing person, and were told that Kou Thao, a homeless Hmong Asian man had murdered a man and taken the body to Milwaukee. Thao, who lives in Wasau,  Wisconsin was arrested at a Milwaukee home on April 6. The dismembered body of Ton Pao Hang, 58 of St. Paul was found 13 days later after Wausau police told Milwaukee police where to find the home where Thao took the body. Thao was charged  one count of first-degree intentional homicide, one count for hiding a corpse, repeater and one count for possession of a firearm by a felon, repeat offender in Hang’s homicide. The criminal complaint states Thao shot Hang once in the forehead while they were drinking in a basement at a Wausau home. In fear after he saw the body, Thao’s brother in-law, Yeh Lor helped Thao wrap Hang’s body in a tarp and put it in the trunk of a blue Honda Accord which Thao drove to Milwaukee with the body.  In Sep 2014, Thao pleaded no contest in the case. In January 2015, he was sentenced to  40 years in prison A motive in the killing was unclear. Prosecutors have said it appeared the two men met just days before the shooting.
