58 dead 546 injured 2017 Las Vegas shooting - night of October 1, 2017, a gunman opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, leaving 58 people dead and 546 injured. His motive is unknown.  The incident is the deadliest mass shooting committed by an individual in the United State The terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) claimed that Paddock was their "soldier", and that he had answered Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's call to attack coalition countries, but an FBI agent said they had found "no connection with an international terrorist group." media and authorities consider it a false claim.

Wikipedia makes no mention of claims he was terrorist besides false ISIS claim.

What's a 'lone wolf'? It's the special name we give white terrorists ... Guardian  Oct 4, 2017 - Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock seems to fit every definition of a terrorist – apart  – apart from being Muslim Consider Stephen Craig Paddock, the shooter in Sunday’s massacre in Las Vegas. Is he a terrorist? Well, the authorities aren’t calling him one, at least not yet.  This is all the more remarkable because Paddock’s actions clearly fit the statutory definition of terrorism in Nevada. That state’s law defines terrorism as “any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to cause great bodily harm or death to the general population”. stephen Craig Paddock shot and killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 others. If that doesn’t qualify as a textbook definition of Nevada’s terrorism law, I don’t know what does.  asked at a press conference in Las Vegas if the shooting was an act of terrorism, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo replied: “No. Not at this point. We believe it’s a local individual. He resides here locally,” suggesting that all terrorism is foreign in nature.

act though is, by definition, terrorism. Even under the stricter federal definition of terrorism, Paddock’s murderous rampage should qualify. The federal code defines “domestic terrorism” in part as “activities that appear intended to affect the conduct of government by mass destruction”. It’s hard, if not impossible, to understand how committing one of the largest mass shootings in American history is not “intended to affect the conduct of government”.

at the federal level, domestic terrorism “doesn’t constitute an independent crime or trigger heightened penalties”, according to the website

Instead, the high-profile terrorism cases that do trigger heightened penalties are the foreign terrorism cases that almost always involve Muslims,

interests of justice are served when the terrorism label is fairly and accurately applied.

The Las Vegas Shooting Is Terrorism | GQ
Oct 2, 2017 - Fifty-plus Americans died in a mass shooting in Las Vegas last night. ... In fact, when asked if this was a terrorist attack, Clark County sheriff Joseph Lombardo said, ... This is especially obvious when you look at Nevada law and see its actual definition of "act of terrorism." ...

It's the deadliest mass shooting in United States history. It's also terrorism.
Now, the Las Vegas police disagree with that last point. In fact, when asked if this was a terrorist attack, Clark County sheriff Joseph Lombardo said, "No, not at this point; we believe it is a local individual, he resides here locally." He then added, "We don’t know what his belief system was at this time." This is thinly veiled code for "the shooter was a white man." This is especially obvious when you look at Nevada law and see its actual definition of "act of terrorism."
"NRS 202.4415 "Act of terrorism" defined.
  1. "Act of terrorism" means any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to:
(a) Cause great bodily harm or death to the general population; or
(b) Cause substantial destruction, contamination or impairment of:
(1) Any building or infrastructure, communications, transportation, utilities or services; or
(2) Any natural resource or the environment."
So under this definition, which is, you know, the law, Stephen Paddock was obviously a terrorist. But because he's white, we don't call it that.

He was sentenced to death but Democratic Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed a "temporary reprieve".  The attack was seen as a part of a pattern of local violence by young criminals starting in a January robbery and murder of a grandmother in her home, a shooting in May at the Denver Zoo where a "stray" bullet nearly killed a 10 year old, and robbery and murder by two gang members who beat a woman and killed her husband in Capitol Hill.

July 1, 1993,  101 California Street Shooting was a mass shooting that took place July 1, 1993, in San FranciscoCalifornia, killing nine people, including the shooter, Gian Luigi Ferri. The killings sparked a number of legal and legislative actions that were precursors to theViolent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act.   55-year-old failed entrepreneur[1] Gian Luigi Ferri entered an office building at 101 California Street in San Francisco, to the offices of the law firm of Pettit & Martin on the 34th floor. Ferri's reason for targeting the firm is unknown; it had advised him about some real estate deals in the Midwest in 1981, but had no contact with him ever since. Ferri donned ear protectors and opened fire with a pair of TEC-9 submachine handgun and a Norinco NP44 (copy of Colt M1911 pistol) with deadly hollow point Black Talon and standard ammunition, and used Hellfire trigger systems for the TEC-9 pistols. After roaming the 34th floor, he moved down one floor through an internal staircase and continued shooting. The attack continued on several floors before Ferri committed suicide as San Francisco Police closed in. Eight people were killed in the attack, and six others injured.[2]  The reason for the shootings was never determined. A typed letter left behind by Ferri contained a list of complaints.  Ferri claimed he had been poisoned by monosodium glutamate (MSG), a flavor enhancer in food, and that he had been "raped" by Pettit & Martin and other firms. The letter also contained complaints against the Food and Drug Administration, the legal profession (which he claimed gave "allegiance to the monarchy"), and a list of over 30 "criminals, rapists, racketeeres [sic], lobbyists", none of whom were among his actual victims.[4] Subsequent reports claimed that Ferri's issues related to a conference he had at a law firm on the 35th floor, and targeted Pettit & Martin by mistake.
