Police are looking into "every possible scenario" as they investigate how a radio communication tower was knocked down near the Danville-San Ramon border early Monday morning. The tower, which transmitted a variety of radio signals, including those involving 911 emergency calls, was damaged and on the ground when police were called at 9 a.m. Monday to Rocky Ridge, a ridgetop in Las Trampas Park that's south of city's borders, Capt. Mark Ruppenthal of the East Bay Regional Parks police said.
"We don't don't know right now" why someone would do this, Ruppenthal said. "It's a very open investigation. We're reached out to our other law enforcement partners, because we don't know if there have been other events elsewhere similar to this." Despite the vandalism, public safety communication never was compromised,
