  September 17, 2013 15 people including suspected members of Al Qaeda's Somali terrorist group Al Shabaab were arrested in connection to an acid attack on an 16 yr old Roman Catholic priest Joseph Amselmo Mwangamba. The September 13 attack left him with burns on his face, chest and arms as he was leaving an internet cafe in Stone Town. It was the fifth acid attack in Zanzibar since November 2012 thought to be committed by muslim militants.
  
  Authorities were close to charging two other men suspected in the earlier drive-by acid attack on Jewish nursery school volunteers Katie Gee and Kirstie Trup from London. dailymail.co.uk

  Catholic Priest Evarist Mushi Shot Dead in Zanzibar  February 15, 2013 In Zanzibar, African Catholic priest Evarist Mushi was shot in the head by two men who blocked his way. Three men were arrested in connection with the shooting. It is not clear if it was religiously motivated or linked with the shooting and wounding of another priest on Christmas day 
  
  

  December 25,  2012 Rev. Ambrose Mkenda was wounded in another gun attack in Zanzibar around Christmas.  Not clear if it was motivated by religion.
