Snochia Moseley Rite Aid Maryland Workplace Violence Mass Shooting  --- ===

September 20, 2018, Snochia Moseley Rite Aid Maryland Workplace Violence Mass Shooting  Six were shoot with three people killed by female Snochia Moseley, 26 at at Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland, 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.(1) Media does not identify her race which apparently is African American.   She showed up to work on time but went home to get a handgun with many magazines of ammunition, pepper spray and a pair of handcuffs. (1) Moseley started shooting at break time then committed suicide by shooting herself in the head. Officials said that terrorism was not considered a likely motive. (6)

She considered herself transgender to man Coley shared messages he said were from December 2016 with the Baltimore Sun in which Moseley identified as a transgender man and spoke of getting hormone treatments.  “I just started talking about [being transgender],” Moseley wrote in a message. “My sister is totally supportive, my brothers already had an idea, my mom I haven’t gotten around to admitting it to yet. but she’s heard about it somehow.”  Court records, as well as her Facebook profile, identified Moseley as female. (5)

This is the second mass shooting in Maryland to date in 2018, following the The Capital Gazette shooting. and the second workplace rampage in the United States in 24 hours.  (1) (2)  It was just one day earlier, two other shootings made national news. A co-worker injured three people when he opened fire Wednesday at an office complex in Middleton, Wisconsin. Later that day, a gunman wounded four people in Masontown, Pennsylvania.  Police killed the shooters in both cases Wednesday.(1)  Police called the act "senseless" and no motive was known but she was called a "disgrunted worker" (1) She was working as a temporary worker and she was a former security guard at the site.  CNN released victims names as Sunday Aguda, 45, from Baltimore County; Brindra Giri, 41, also from Baltimore County; and Hayleen Reyes, 41, of Baltimore. The injured were Hassan Mitchell, 19, of Harford County; Wilfredo Villegas, 45, of Montgomery County; and Acharya Purna, 45, from New York. (1) Coworkers said she was usually nice but on facebook while she called herself quiet, the she proclaimed that her favorite Bible verse was “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.”. They said that day she came in in a bad mood, she wanted to pick a fight and started shooting(3) Media noted she was a  small minority of female mass shooters, with only around 4 percent being women, according to experts.  “If you look at mass shootings in the United States that have killed eight or more people, they’re all done by men,”(3) But apparently because she was not shot by police no media noted her African American race. Cops later confirmed that the weapon she used had been purchased legally and was registered in her name. (3) but her Maryland handgun permit expired in May(1)  Authorities quickly ruled out terrorism as she had been run through the system and didn't find any terror ties. (4)

Moseley was diagnosed with some sort of mental illness in 2016. "Friends and family members relayed to detectives that over the last two weeks she had become increasingly agitated and that they were concerned for her well-being,"  (5)

On September 20, 2018, three people were killed by a female Snochia Moseley, 26  in Aberdeen, Maryland, United States.[3] The shooting occurred 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.[4] This is the second mass shooting in Maryland to date in 2018, following the The Capital Gazette shooting.[5]

Incident[edit]

The Harford County sheriff stated that calls of "shots fired" came from the Rite Aid distribution center at approximately 9:06 a.m. EDT.[6] Deputies responded at 9:09 am.[7] Officers reportedly never discharged their weapons while responding to the scene.[8] Agents from the Baltimore offices of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the FBI responded to the scene.[9]

Victims[edit]

Preliminary reports suggest that at least three people were killed in the attack, although the Harford County Sheriff declined to give a precise number of wounded and deceased victims during the press conference.[10] Two victims died at the scene and a third in the hospital. It was later reported that the suspect died at the hospital due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her head.[11]
Victims were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore and Christiana Hospital in Delaware.[5] Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Trauma Director released a statement that the hospital received four victims with gunshot wounds, and by 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time, two patients were stable and two were seriously injured.[11]

Suspect[edit]

The suspected shooter was admitted to the hospital, and officials did not immediately identify the suspect.[8] It was confirmed that per initial sweeps of the site the suspect was armed with a single handgun.[12]Later, the Harford County Sheriff's Office revealed the identity of the shooter as being Snochia Moseley, 26, of Baltimore County.[13] Moseley had shot herself in the head and later died of her wounds at the hospital.[14]

Response[edit]

After the shooting, a reunification center was set up at a fire department in Harve de Grace.[15]
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, used Twitter to express his condolences and thoughts on the situation, and tweeted "We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting in Aberdeen. Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders."[10]
Rite Aid, released a statement emphasizing their continuation to work closely with authorities as the investigation continued, and the company would provide grief counselors as long as needed. The company also offered their thoughts and prayers to all those involved in the situation.[11]
