The train conductor reported that the bus appeared to be stopped at the crossing, while a video shows the driver wearing dark sunglasses on a foggy morning did not slow down or look left or right as the passengers were screaming about the oncoming train and bracing for the collision. Two elderly persons later died of their injuries. Bus driver, 59-year old Frank Schaeffner told police it was foggy and the radio was on while he was distracted by a passenger who was yelling at him. He faced charges including vehicular homicide and manslaughter. In March 2014, he was sentenced to house arrest and community service after pleading guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and eight counts of reckless endangerment. He told the court after sentencing “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I made a mistake. I’m sorry.” He suffers as he relives the accident in nightmares and will need psychiatrist treatment for the rest of his life.

Police sources said that while they were still investigating why the driver stopped his vehicle afoul of the railroad tracks, they were also looking into the strong possibility that Friday’s thick morning fog was a factor in the now-fatal accident. occurred in heavy fog and at a crossing where an estimated three-to-four trains cross a two-lane public road without any active protection devices such as flashing lights, bells or crossing gates, systems which railroads claim could prevent over 90% of such accidents. But without their presence Friday morning about 8:10 A.M., the bus driver and his 10 passengers were helpless.

I was a Railroad Engineer for many years and I knew others who had 30 to over 50 fatals during their time. So very often we see their faces before impact, but it just feels like you've squashed an empty pop can, that's all, and then you cry not knowing what awaits back there. West of Cleveland in Elyria in Aug. 1998 I had two young men walk out and lay down feet first inside the rails and I passed over them at 50MPH with 2 engines and 47 cars. It happens in flashes, but only silence where I awaited the thuk sound for a second as they were being ground up. These boys were THIN, one got a cracked shull, deaf, drunken fools had 11 3/4 " to Eternity.
I had to take a week off. The Police officer thought they had got clear, you should have seen his look when we told him what they did, he walked away talking Crimanl Trespass, Criminal Stupidity.
[Nearly identical comment from same Troll about Ottawa crash]
Canada train, bus, collide in Ottawa, at least five dead Having been in a few fatal train vs. vehicle and pedestrians, hitting even a bus is equal to stepping on an aluminum can, it's that sudden and slight yet the helplessness you feel knowing you're the instrument of some ones death takes a toll on the Engineer. Several times I've had to take a week off after a crash and it always seemed that the driver could not stand waiting 30 seconds or even 2 minutes for the train to pass. Often if the train was stopped near a crossing we'd have to coax and motion the people to cross but if we were going 60 MPH the idiots would try to cross. Sometimes I saw their faces just before the impact.

There is no doubt Israel is armed with more than a few hundred nukes but with every Islamic nation clamoring for it's destruction who could blame Israel; can you spell HITLER. With no strategic depth and 4 major wars in it's short existence how can you deride them for preparing for the worst case scenario. Do you have any idea how close we all came to a Nuclear War in 1973 that would have seen the US and USSR lobbing nukes at each other; it was that close. And Iran has openly declared it's intent to destroy Israel which would also wipe out Palestine. Nukes are not precision weapons, the result would be mass destruction like you never dreamed and worse. Iran may think itself immune from total devastation but a tenth of Israel's arsenal would leave Iran as desolate as the Sahara. And rest assured that Israel would take the rest of Islam with it to the grave.

When the time comes to move the chemical weapons let the Russians do it. They can enjoy getting their butts shot off and watch their buddies get blown to pieces by IED's. Too many players would love to get their hands on the stuff.
