Sheley is a suspect in killings of 8 across 2 states Illinois and Missouri. He was charged first-degree murder, aggravated battery and vehicular hijacking in the death of 93 year old Ronald Randall, who was beaten in his home with a weathervane and his body was found in the trunk of a car behind a grocery store. Shunning the handgun he carried by his side,Nicholas T. Sheley killed his victims with crude objects including a weathervane. All the other victims all appeared to have died in the same manner and that evidence linked to Sheley was recovered at each scene. Later police discovered the bodies of two men, a woman and a child in an apartment in nearby Rock Falls.  The apartment killings were driven by alcohol and drugs, and police believe his motive for killing four in Rock Falls because he upset with Branson because he was having an affair with Holly Sheley. Sheley was an ex-convict who spent more than three years in the Illinois State Prison for aggravated robbery,

Sheley was convicted of the 1st Degree Murder of 65 year old Ronald Randall in Knox County, Illinois on September 29, 2011.

Sheley was found guilty of first degree murder in Rock Island County court on May 29th, 2014 in the deaths of Brock Branson, Kevin Ulve, and Kilynna and Dayan Blake. Sentencing is scheduled for August 11th, 2014.

Knox County Prosecutors charged Nicholas Troy Sheley, 28, with first-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated vehicular hijacking and two counts of theft in connection to the death of Ronald Randall from Galesburg, Illinois.
Monday, July 1, 9:30 a.m.
An autopsy positively identified a body found behind a grocery store in Galesburg as Randall. Pathology reports listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.
Monday, June 30, 12:15 p.m.
Galesburg Police found a man's body behind a grocery store in Galesburg.
Monday, June 30, 9:33 a.m.
The Galesburg Police Department said On-Star helped they them find Randall's 2007 pick-up truck at Cherokee and 2nd St. in St. Louis. Police said no one was with the vehicle when it was found.
Monday, June 30, 8:38 a.m.
Family members told Galesburg Police Department they had not seen or spoken to Randall since Saturday. They filed a missing persons report with the department. Neighbors told police Randall was last seen driving a pick-up truck sometime Saturday evening.
Sunday, June 29, unknown time
Galesburg police found a stolen pick-up truck at a car wash in Galesburg. They said it had been taken during a burglary at a Rock Island, Illinois business.
Friday, June 26, unknown time
Illinois State Police and the Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center issued a warrant bulletin for Nicholas Sheley in connection to a home invasion. He was believed to be driving a stolen red Jeep.

Mr. Sheley is also suspected of killing Brock Branson, 29; Kenneth Ulve, 25; Kilynna Blake, 20; and Dayan Blake, 2, in an apartment in Rock Falls, near Sterling, about 100 miles west of Chicago.

In Galesburg, 70 miles south of Sterling, the authorities suspect that Mr. Sheley abandoned a stolen pickup in the parking lot of a car wash before he encountered Mr. Randall, 65, and bludgeoned him to death Saturday evening.

Family members reported Mr. Randall, a retired factory worker, missing on Monday morning, and the police soon found his truck abandoned in St. Louis

 same morning the bodies of Tom and Jill Estes, an Arkansas couple visiting the St. Louis area, were found behind a gasoline station in Festus, one day after their blood-drenched dogs were found wandering.

“They were here for a graduation and ran into everyone’s worst nightmare: a spree killer,” Chief Lewis said. . “We don’t know what exactly happened, but there was a violent struggle.”

By noon Monday, the authorities found Mr. Randall’s body behind a grocery store in Galesburg, and that afternoon the four victims in Rock Falls were discovered. Then, just as quickly as it started, the manhunt ended with Mr. Sheley’s capture.
