- 15 injured, 4 seriously August 29, 2014 O'Hare Rental Shuttle Bus Shuttle Crash At O'Hare airport in Chicago, a rental car shuttle bus suddenly drifted right out of its land and rammed a concrete median barrier at 6:30 a.m. crushing the left front door corner of the bus. It injured 15, 4 seriously and tied up traffic near the I-190 entrance as people abandoned cars to get to their flights on time. The woman bus driver who works for the airport had to be freed with a hammer as she was pinned by the steering wheel and taken to the hospital. She was cited for failing to carry or produce a driver’s license, and failing to stay within a lane.

- 1 killed August 29, 2014 Woman killed by NYC taxi that flipped on side despite bystanders who lifted cab off New York Post In New York City a new Nissan "cab of the future" ran over a 58 year old pedestrian crossing the street while making a turn, and flipped on its side pinning the woman underneath. Good Samaritans pushed the cab off her, but she did not survive. It was one of a string of pedestrian fatalities in Manhattan. Police were investigating if it was criminal or not.

Jackson owned four pit bulls that mauled 63-year-old Pamela Devitt during her morning walk in Littlerock on May 9, 2013.

A Florida man killed three relatives Friday and tried to gun down a fourth when a passing truck ran over the murderer, halting his rampage, police said. "Something just set him off and he just started killing people. I don't know if there ever is going to be a definitive motive." Mason killed his grandmother, and brother inside a home in Brooksville, about 50 miles north of Tampa, then shot and killed Tarasha Townsend, the 37-year-old mother of his two children.

- 2014-08-29 Lewis, Jeremy (33) Florida (Orlando) Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said Lewis pointed a gun at deputies who were serving a warrant at an Orlando apartment complex. At least two deputies shot Lewis several times outside the doorway, and he died from his injuries. He was identified to media at the scene.[1]
- 2014-08-29 Lebak, Erik Charles (32) California (Redding) When two Shasta County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call for help about a suicidal man they heard gunshots inside the home. A short time later a confrontation ensued between the man and two deputies, and the man was shot and killed. Lebak was the son of retired Redding police captain Chuck Lebak, officers said.[2][3]
- 2014-08-29 Withers, Jayson Matthew (26) Oregon (Pendleton) A corrections officer at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution shot and killed Withers after he and another prisoner wouldn't stop attacking a third inmate. The guard fired "to prevent imminent serious bodily injury to an inmate being assaulted." The guard's name was not yet released.[4]
- 2014-08-29 unidentified (??) Arizona (Littlefield) Mohave County Sheriff's Office says deputies spotted a motorcycle traveling without a rear license plate. Deputies attempted to stop the rider, who then abandoned his vehicle and ran into the desert. Deputies found him in some brush and used a Taser twice after he allegedly became combative. The suspect stopped breathing while being led in handcuffs to a patrol car. [5]

- August 28, 2014 Columbia City passers-by rush to help victims after SUV hits Seattle businesses An SUV driven by a woman in her 40s crashed through a hair salon and Greek deli in Columbia City Thursday, pinning a family of three to a wall and injuring several other people. Witnesses heard the SUV’s engine revving just before it tore through the two businesses. Officers are investigating what caused the driver to lose (did she lose or aim) control of the vehicle. The SUV was heading south on Rainier Avenue South just before 1:30 p.m. when it veered off the street and crashed into the Carol Cobb Salon and continued into The Grecian Delight deli next door. The SUV driver appeared to have floored the gas pedal as she was going 50 to 60 mph right before the crash. Two small girls in the family had to be removed from the vehicle. (Accident or deliberate attack like big box "accidents" that always hit a doorway?)
