  1. 1 gun threat January 31, 2014 Devin Rivera, 18 was arrested in the food court of  New Jersey's Paramus' Westfield Garden State Plaza after police received calls that he was brandishing a black semi-automatic handgun. It was a BB gun so he was charged with unlawful purpose for possession of an imitation firearm.  He said he carried because he was afraid of other shoppers. nbcnewyork
  2. 1 killed January 31, 2014 Minneapolis Good Samaritan Shot By Devon Parker In Minneapolis, Minnesota, elderly veteran Thomas Sonnenberg called 911 after letting in Davon Parker who claimed to be pursued by men with baseball bats. The police found Sonnenberg shot to death by his own gun, and arrested Parker, who was due to appear in court, and had been acting erratically in previous weeks
  3. 1 terroristic threat to school January 31, 2014 King Philip Middle School Gun Threat King Philip Middle School's head cook Wendy Ferris threatened a school shooting "I'm thinking about going out to buy an AK-47 and shooting this (expletive) school up!" after being told she had baked cookies improperly. She was arraigned on charges on February 3 and ordered to surrender her guns and stay away from the school.

No motives given for any incident.
  7. 1 terroristic threat January 31, 2014 threat, July 28, 2014 arrest Hong Minh Truong Sent 500 and Superbowl Hoax Anthrax Letters  In the first terrorist style threat on the Superbowl, white anthrax-like powder found in packages sent to hotels in New York City and the mayor turn out to be harmless threats. Hong Minh Truong Sent More Than 500 Hoax Anthrax Letters Huffington Post Hong Minh Truong arrested accused of sending more than 15 batches of letters from the Dallas area, for six years starting in 2008. In all but two of the batches, a white-powder substance was put in the envelopes. The hoax letters were mailed to cities across the U.S. and to U.S. Embassies abroad. Most recently, some letters were mailed to hotels in the vicinity of this year's Super Bowl in New Jersey... focused on Truong after an IP address associated with him was identified after 28 public schools in Boston received letters in June 2013, according to the complaint. The mailings, also sent to U.S. embassies around the world, frequently contained the same disjointed rant. "Al Qaeda back!," In 2002, Truong told police he hears voices in his head. He claimed the FBI, DEA, ATF and police are after him and beaming radar into his body.

January 30, 2014 Jose Angel Garcia-Jauregui Ambushes Utah Deputy Jose Angel Garcia-Jauregui was in his truck with a juvenile girl when they fired out of the back window and killed a Utah deputy who was checking on the licence plate after stopping to help. He was a parolee who a warrant for his arrest. He led police on a chase and also shot another police officer in the head. SaltLakeTribune

  1. 1 injured  January 28, 2014 January 2014 Tennessee State University Shooting  Tennessee State University Shooting: A gunman opened fire at 9 p.m. on the main campus after two people appeared to be arguing about a gambling debt. One man was shot in the leg with non life-threatening injuries. It appears to be part of a string of unconnected attacks on HBCU historically black colleges. 
  2. January 28, 2014  Barry Keiper Lackawanna County Police Standoff At a MOOSIC PA Barry Keiper Jr surrendered to police after a tense five-hour standoff after firing at least 20 shots at police from a motel room. Officers returned fire and threw gas grenades before storming the room about 11 p.m. Keiper appeared to be armed with a rifle and a shotgun. He and was accused of beating a woman earlier that he held hostage but released to police custody

  1. January 27, 2014 North Carolina Church Shooting There was a shooting at Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. A gunman sprayed a church playground basketball court with gunfire and escaped before 6 p.m. 15 shots injured 4 youths, gravely wounding one 12 year old boy.
  2. $6m stolen, 1 man tasered 2 suspects January 27, 2014 Universal Allah Taser Leads to Milwaukee Stolen Stradivarius Violin  January 27th, two armed suspects, a man and a woman, approached concertmaster violinist Frank Almond of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in a parking lot where he was felled by a taser. The suspects then stole the violin, valued at approximately $6 million. The taser was tracked to a purchase by a man named Universal Allah, while another trip led to Salah Jones. Their arrests were announced February 6, 2014

  • Swedish sex club owner Mille Markovic is shot dead in an apparent targeted assassination in Stockholm. Police are seeking two men who fled in a white Corolla. A witness heard four shots, and saw two men standing over the body pronouncing "he is dead" (Aftonbladet)
  • 24 injured January 23, 2014 Man on Meth Attacks Driver Crashes Greyhound Bus Dozens were injured when a 25 year old Maquel Donyel Morris from Los Angeles hallucinating on meth' screaming 'I'm gonna flip this bus!' kicked open the driver door and attacked a Greyhound driver causing bus to crash in the Arizona desert. It was just before 2am near Tonopah when the bus nearly swerved across the median into oncoming traffic as passengers fought to get the attacker off the injured driver who called for help. He fled into the desert with his female companion before returning to be arrested. The girlfriend claimed he had taken meth, was 'paranoid' and 'did not want to be on the bus.'

Casualties: 1 killed, suspect pled guilty to negligence January 21, 2014 Lisa Zemack Ambulance Crash Vehicle Homicide Real estate agent Lisa Zemak's Mercedes car ran a stop sign in Milford Mass (near Boston). It clipped the corner and caused the ambulance to spin and roll over,  killing the patient. A paramedic in the ambulance was also injured. Zemack was summoned for vehicular homicide by negligent operation and driving to endanger.   She pled guilty to negligent driving in 2015.
  2. 1 killed, 1 arrested January 21, 2014 Perdue University Shooting at Electrical Engineering Building One is dead after a shooting in the Electrical Engineering building at Purdue University. The gunman was arrested and was not cooperating with the police. w
  3. January 21, 2014 Commando With Rifle Robs Kills Texas 7-11 Clerk  A masked man carrying a rifle with a scope was caught on video late after robbing and shooting the clerk Yosef Tulu. A long rifle with a scope is more typically used in a terrorist mass shooting or ambush attack than holding up a convenience store.

    6. 3 killed January 20, 2014. Gianni Belvedere's Car Found The car belonging to Gianni Belvedere was found with an unidentified body in the trunk a hundred miles away. Gianni Belvedere has been missing since the murder of his fiancée Ilona Flint, 22, and his little brother Salvatore, 22 at a San Diego shopping mall parking lot on Dec. 23, and he was not named a suspect in the case. Media speculates somebody wanted the three dead, perhaps for some kind of revenge for something in their background.

      3. 1 killed January 19, 2014 JBLM soldier killed defending woman during stabbing ...KOMO‑TV Jan 20, 2014 - A Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier died on Sunday while trying to save a woman who was being stabbed. In a home in Graham around 4 a.m. after a woman at the residence called to report the stabbing... a group of people went to the home after a night of drinking and that's where Chase Devyver, 29, stabbed a woman in the back then turned the knife on the soldier who tried to help the victim. The soldier was stabbed in the chest and died at the scene.

        Friday January 17 2014 Maryland Mother Exorcism Excuse for Killing Toddlers A Germantown, Maryland mother and another woman are alleged to have killed two toddlers and trying to kill two other children. Montgomery County police believe the motive was an exorcism releasing demonic spirits that had possessed the siblings. The two dead children were found Friday morning stabbed to death on their mother’s bed.

        • January 14, 2013 Two Shot and Killed in Aurora Illinois Home and Restaurant Bathroom There were two apparently unrelated fatal shootings in Aurora Illinois in the evening. A 22 year old woman was shot in her home after an argument with a man in what appeared to be a domestic situation. A 22 year old man was shot in the bathroom inside a Mexican restaurant, and two suspects were seen fleeing the scene.
        • January 13, 2013 Florida Movie Theater Shooting Kills One Over Texting Retired Tampa Police Department officer, Curtis Reeves was arrested after a Florida movie theater shooting in Wesley Chapel before the screening of 'Lone Survivor', a surprise hit movie about survival of attacks by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Reeves became agitated with Chad Oulson for texting before the movie began, and after an argument Reeves fired a gun at Oulson and his wife. Nicole was wounded in her hand blocking the gun. to her hand, before Chad was struck. It recalled the unprovoked July 2012 Aurora Colorado theater shooting that killed 12 and wounded 70. No news reports speculated on whether the shooting could have been connected to a terrorist motive or a group sympathetic to the Taliban

Monday January 13, 2014  Colorado District Closes Schools After Reports Of Possible Shooting, Bomb Threat The South Conejos School District superintendent told 11 News that over the weekend, there were rumors in the community that there could be a shooting at either the high school or elementary school, and a a bomb threat. The high school and the building housing the elementary and middle schools were closed Monday but nothing was found.

        2. January 13, 2014 Texas Seven Lakes High School Zip Gun Bomb Evacuation Seven Lakes High School in Katy Texas was evacuated after a zip gun explosive device was found on campus. Such devices are often made from a pipe and can fire nails. The FBI and a bomb squad from Houston responded and suspect Thomas Scott Barfield was arrested

        3. The same day Pequannock Township High School in New Jersey was evacuated after a message was found on a bathroom wall

        • January 12, 2013 Grenade Injures Firefighters At Mindanao Science College At the Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology Mindanao, Phillipines, a man tossed a grenade near a firetruck as firefighters and police were fighting a fire which may have been set in building for security guards as a lure. The blast injured more than 24 people. In November a bomb was found by the flagpole but may have been set to scare rather than detonate.

A series of fires have been evidently set by the same person in the Roosevelt, Little Portugal, Wooster and Five Wounds neighborhoods, as well as the eastern parts of the Brookwood Terrace, Naglee Park and Northside neighborhoods near downtown San Jose, California. January 13 was the first time in six days there were no suspicious fires after a string of 12 suspicious fires over five consecutive days

        2 unrelated(?) incidents 30 minutes and 2 blocks apart: January 10, 2014 NYC cab hits and kills 9 yr old son of radiation oncologist who treated Giulani. Dr. Richard Stock cried out in horror after the cab hit young Cooper as it made a left turn. Richard suffered a leg injury, and his son were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where Cooper was pronounced dead. A half hour earlier just two blocks away, another 73-year-old man was killed after being dragged along the pavement by a green charter bus in a separate apparently unrelated accident two blocks away. Both the bus driver and the cab driver stayed at the scene but neither was charged.

        January 6, 2013 Elderly Man Accidentally Crashes Into Walpole Gas Pump An 83 year old man in Walpole, Massachusetts is caught on camera hitting a gas station attendant and then knocking down a gas pump and starting a fire with his car. The man is a regular customer who said he stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.

        January 4, 2014 Man Pursued, Shot by SUV In Apparent Road Rage Timothy "Asti" Davison called 911 to say that he was followed by a Ford Ranger pickup truck that was shooting at him and forced him off the road in Maryland. He was found wounded off the road in Pennsylvania and died later. Police believe that motive was random road rage, and there are no leads on the shooter. No one has suspected a connection to terrorism

        $18K Robbery Leads to Shooting of Phoenix Police Officer, Truck Driver After robbing $18,000 from a men's club 26-year-old Roger Allen Sharp of Phoenix led police on a chase and crashed into a truck. As he was stopped , he got the officer's gun and shot the officer and the truck's driver, who were both critically injured.

        1. Minneapolis Apartment Building Explodes And Burns Injuring 13 January 1, 2013 An apartment building near a mosque in a Somali community in Minneapolis, Minnesota exploded into flames. 13 were hospitalized with injuries, 6 were injured critically.
        2. Catholic Priest Rev. Eric Freed Killed January 1, 2013 Popular Catholic priest Rev. Eric Freed was found bludgeoned to death in the rectory of his church in Eureka California. An arrest warrant was issued for Gary Lee Bullock who had been arrested and jailed and hospitalized and released due to erratic behavior before the killing.

Man sought in connection with Jan. 1 slaying of U.S. Army Sergeant  MARRERO, La. – The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking a person of interest in connection with the slaying of a U.S. Army soldier who was killed in the driveway of his in-laws’ home on January 1. U.S. Army Sergeant Joseph Anderson was shot and killed in the 6100 block of Ray Street in Marrero after dropping off his three children at his in-laws. Anderson, who survived two tours of duty in the Middle East, was shot in the head and his car was stolen.

January 1, 2014 Gas Can Arson Attack on Chinese Consulate in San Francisco  Yan Feng, 39, of Daly City drove to San Francisco in his minivan, filled three containers with gasoline bought at a station on Geary Boulevard, and parked in front of the consulate. Eldridge said Feng told the agents he placed the containers near the front entrance of the building, poured gasoline on the front door and front steps, and attempted to light a fire with his passport, but the fire did not ignite. On Friday January 3, two days after the fire, Mr. Feng called the police dispatcher and identified himself in Chinese as the person who "made the fire". He told FBI agents in an interview after his arrest that her targeted the Chinese consulate because all the voices he had been hearing were in Chinese and the Chinese consulate had to have been involved.” The FBI believes that terrorism, politics or civil rights were not involved.
