May 6, 2014 University City 2 Car Accident Hits Wharton Student Off Bridge Two men seriously injured One car ran a red light, hitting another which swerved towards 27-year-old Zachary Woods who jumped onto a pole, but the car either uncontrollably or steered towards and crashed into the pole and sent the University of Pennsylvania Wharton graduate student falling 60 feet from the bridge. The student later died, while the driver was also hospitalized.

PHILADELPHIA — 

Police say a University of Pennsylvania graduate student sent plunging from an elevated roadway in Philadelphia after a car crash has died.

A police spokeswoman says 27-year-old Zachary Woods, the pedestrian critically injured in the 40-foot fall, died around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said two cars collided and one struck the Monroe, New York, man and a light pole, throwing both over the side.

Penn officials said Woods was a student at the Wharton School, which expressed condolences to his family on its Facebook page.
