Arsons are almost never attributed to terrorists, but sometimes are. Often fires are set by angry or mentally unstable people who just act like terrorists. People are never terrorists if they offer an alternative motive, and they never lie about their motives, and terrorists never hide their terrorist motive, if authorities are to be believed.

Arson suspected: December 1, 1958 95 killed Our Lady of the Angels School fire A fire broke out at Our Lady of the Angels School in Chicago, Illinois, shortly before classes were to be dismissed for the day. The fire originated in the basement of the school near the foot of a stairway. Ignition took place in a cardboard trash barrel located a few feet from the northeast stairwell. The fire smoldered undetected for approximately 20 minutes, The elementary school was operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and had an enrollment of approximately 1600 students. A total of 92 pupils and 3 nuns ultimately died when smoke, heat, fire, and toxic gasses cut off their normal means of escape through corridors and stairways. Many more were injured when they jumped from second-floor windows which, because the building had a raised basement, were nearly as high as a third floor would be on level ground. The cause of the fire was never officially determined. In 1962, a boy who was a student at Our Lady of the Angels at the time of the fire, confessed to setting the blaze. At the time of the fire, he was 10 years old and in fifth grade. A family court judge later concluded the evidence was insufficient to substantiate the confession. Officially, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Arsonist Alan Norcutt (birthdate approx 1947) claimed he had accidentally started the fire at Our Lady of the Angels, but he was never charged with the crime in juvenile court. Printing the name of the suspect is libel but this is known: John E. Brian Howard, a contractor for Harris was found in the basement, suffering from self-inflicted knife wounds appearing to try to kill himself. The man had the knowledge to cut every radar feed to FAA air controllers before setting the area on fire. All persons were evacuated and one injury was reported. The fire has been extinguished, but work had to be switched to other sites while traffic to Chicago was completely shut down, and flights were affected until the next week, and it will take weeks to completely repair the damage. Authorities immediately ruled out terrorism as it was just a local incident with a local contractor who may be been upset about being transferred to Hawaii.

About 8 to 25 busses all brand new are gone. Detroit firefighters and Hazmat teams put out a 2 alarm blaze. So far there are some brief delay of its peak routes but D-DOT busses are still running in its streets. Unfortunately, the area of the fire was where the newest buses (delivered spring 2010) were housed, but fortunately the number destroyed has been downsized from 25 when first reported to five or six. Ironically, the Coolidge facility is scheduled to close for renovation next month, Jan 14, 2012. Here's video coverage from WXYZ-TV7: http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/region/...-ddot-facility

Reid report on arsonist confession : Lives at 1836 South 50 or 58th Avenue in Cicero, Illinois Date of birth : October 4, 1948 After the fire, he was transferred to St. Attracta; and later at Cicero public school
