On March 3, he was arrested near Arundel Mills mall, where shots were fired Feb. 24. A man driving away from a gas station near the mall was injured by glass shot out from his car,. He had just quit his job as a prison guard. Anne Arundel County Chief Timothy Altomare said Wednesday that the shootings over the past week evoked memories for officers of two radicalized Islamist snipers who killed 10 people in 2002 in the D.C. area.

October 22, 2014 – Dominic Adesanya, jumped the fence onto the north lawn and was quickly taken down by two security dogs while punching and kicking them before being arrested by the Secret Service. He was later ordered by a judge to a mental health facility.[37][38]
August 7, 2014 – An unknown toddler squeezed though the fence, and was returned to his parents.[35]

Sept. 17, 2010, United States Capitol Police opened fire on a man spotted with a gun within walking distance of the Capitol. When confronted by police, the man pointed his gun at them and refused to drop his weapon. The man was shot and transported to an area hospital for his injuries.

Beltway sniper attacks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Beltway sniper attacks were a series of coordinated shootings that took place during three weeks in October 2002 in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Cover story: nvestigators and the prosecution suggested during pre-trial motions that Muhammad intended to kill his ex-wife Mildred, who had estranged him from his children. According to this theory, the other shootings were intended to cover up the motive for the crime, since Muhammad believed that the police would not focus on an estranged ex-husband as a suspect if she looked like a random victim of a serial killer

A series of trial exhibits suggested Malvo and Muhammad were motivated by an affinity for Islamicist Jihad.[30]

In July 1998, a man named Russell Eugene Weston Jr.entered the Capitol armed with a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson and opened fire, killing two United States Capitol Police officers. Officer Jacob Chestnut was killed first as he caught Weston trying to go around a metal detector near the entrance. After killing Chestnut, Weston ran to a nearby office, where he exchanged fire with Detective John Gibson. Gibson was killed, but he managed to injure Weston in the shootout. Two others were also injured. Weston was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and remains in a mental institution to this day.
In March 1954, four Puerto Rican nationalists opened firefrom the visitors’ gallery in the House of Representatives. Some 30 shots were fired. Out of the 240 people on the floor during the shooting, five representatives were wounded, but all survived. All four shooters served time in various U.S. prisons before being pardoned by President Jimmy Carter and sent back to Puerto Rico.
On Nov. 7, 1983, a bomb exploded on the second floor of the Capitol’s north wing at 10:58 p.m. Nobody was killed or injured. According to the Senate website, a portrait of Daniel Webster, situated directly across from where the bomb was concealed underneath a bench, received the brunt of the explosion. Mirrors, chandeliers and furniture were also destroyed. In 1988, authorities arrested six members of a group called Resistance Conspiracy in connection with the Senate bombing, as well as bombings of Fort McNair and the Washington Navy Yard.
In March 1971, a bomb exploded on the ground floor of the Capitol. The bomb was placed there by members of the leftist group Weather Underground in protest of U.S. military involvement in Laos.
In July 1915, Eric Muenter, a German professor at Harvard, set off a bomb in the reception room of the Senate in an effort to sway public opinion against American involvement in World War I. He escaped the scene without being arrested. Soon after, he shot J.P. Morgan Jr. at his home on Long Island in New York. According to the Harvard Crimson, Muenter was arrested and committed suicide in prison. He had contacts with German intelligence which believed that "neutral" America had to be stopped by passively supporting its enemies in WWI.
On Jan. 30, 1885, President Andrew Jackson survived an assassination attempt when an unemployed painter named Richard Lawrence attempted to shoot him with two different guns just outside the Capitol. Both guns misfired and Lawrence was subdued by Jackson’s aides.

October 4, 2013 Man Sets Himself On Fire on National Mall The day after Miriam Carey gets shot after driving like she and her child are filming a terrorist movie, an African American man later identified as John Constantino, 64, of Mount Laurel, evidently African American himself on fire at the National Mall at 4:30 in the afternoon after dousing himself with gasoline and burst aflame squatting without a shirt. Joggers passing by took off their shirts but could not stop the flames. He was airlifted to a hospital while conscious in critical condition. He died the next day in a hospital. One witness says an accomplice filmed the entire ordeal, but that video never surfaced. According to his family, John was “a loving father and husband.” but his death was “not a political act or statement, but the result of his long battle with mental illness.” Time's Joe Klein noted it as a "whiff of the apocalypse", blaming it on the "radical nihilist minority of the GOP's craven leadership" calling the "radicals" a "pestilence feeding on ignorance and cynicism". Police are investigating a motive.
October 3, 2013 Miriam Carey. an unarmed woman in a black Infiniti coupe with CT plates was shot after she tried to breech barriers at the White house, then led police on a chase towards the Capitol campus. She rammed a squad care one block from the Capitol, then continued where she shot one block past the campus with a child in the back seat. Authorities have ruled out terrorism and believe it is an isolated incident, and definitely not a dry run for a real armed attack.
September 16, 2013 DC Navy Yard Shooting 34-year-old Aaron Alexis from Fort Worth, Texas was a 4 year veteran Naval reservist and government civilian contractor who had access to the Washington Navy Yard in Washington DC miles 1.5 miles from the Capitol building. He went on a shooting rampage armed with a shotgun, AR-16 assault rifle and semiautomatic handgun. At least thirteen people were killed including the shooter, police and security officials.
Friday July 26 Woman Arrested For Green Paint Monument Vandalism In Washington DC, the Lincoln Memorial vandalized with green paint in the first incident since 1922. On 2013 July 29 a homeless woman from China woman whose visa expired July 27 was arrested for paint splattered at the National Cathedral. 58 year old Jiamei Tian was known to other homeless people and those serving the homeless. She was suspected to have been responsible for splashes of green paint at the Lincoln Memorial, on a statue outside the Smithsonian Castle, on an organ at Luther Place Memorial Church, and on statues and an organ in the National Cathedral.
June 25, 2013 Mercedes S-Class Slams Into Michel Richard’s Central DC restaurant A Mercedes Benz S-class jumped a curb onto the the sidewalk and crashed into the front of Michel Richard's restaurant in downtown Washington D.C. during peak rush hour traffic. Three women, including the drive and a 2 year old child were injured. The cause of the crash was unknown, but no press account noted that Inspire magazine had suggested attacks on a DC restaurant might hurt government workers.
