A building on the NSA campus was damaged by gunfire earlier this month. Authorities captured a man March 3 who they believe fired that night on the NSA site, as well as earlier at several nearby places and two moving vehicles. The suspect in that case, Hong Young, told police he heard voices directing him to fire on one of the occupied vehicles.

Shots were also fired on vehicles on a busy highway, near a movie theater and on the NSA building. The locations were within a 12-mile radius in the Baltimore-Washington suburbs. No one was seriously hurt.
Young was taken into custody Tuesday night when police spotted a 1999 Lincoln Town Car that looked suspicious in a parking lot because the store near the mall was closed, police said. The car was also spotted at some of the other shootings.

"This case truly was good old-fashioned police work at its finest,” said Anne Arundel County Police Chief Tim Altomare. "Officers shared information and ultimately located and removed this person from the community before he took someone's life."

On Wednesday morning, police surrounded a Beltsville home. A woman there identified herself as Young's mother. She says that Young was recently laid off from his job. She also said she has been calling him constantly since Tuesday night to find out if he is okay but has not been able to reach him.
Young's mother showed us a high school graduation picture of her son. She told us he recently obtained a handgun license but knew nothing about the shootings.
Tuesday night at 10:30, Anne Arundel County police arrested a driver in a blue 1999 Lincoln Town car outside the Costco at Arundel Mills Mall. The officers were conducting surveillance in connection to the shooting on Arundel Mills Blvd. from Feb. 24 that injured a 61-year-old victim, apparently chosen at random. Officers saw a vehicle matching the description and made a traffic stop, say police.

Tuesday afternoon, two men were injured when their service truck traveling on the Inter-County Connector eastbound near I-95 in Prince George's County was hit in the windshield by bullets. Six miles away and two-and-a-half hours later, shots were reported near the NSA and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Rt. 32. A building at the NSA was hit, but no one was injured.
