March 1, 2015 Wilson North Carolina $5 million in gold bars were stolen from an unmarked truck about 50 mi east of Raleight headed to Boston from Miami when drivers stopped allegedly after they smelled gas fumes by the side of the road when a van full of robbers immediately told them to get out. They left their guns behind, and were tied up and marched into the woods. The drivers first reported mechanical problems with their truck (which had no problems), but later said a strong odor of gasoline from a recent pit stop made them feel ill and carsick. Robbers cut a padlock on the trailer, hauled five 5-gallon buckets packed with 275 gold bars into their van, The victims spoke mostly spanish. Detectives now suspect an inside job, though the victims are not yet suspects.
