Timeline Of Terroristic Incidents | Amusement Park Accidents
October 24, 2013 At the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, five were injured, two seriously as they were getting of the Vortex pendulum-swing thrill ride ride when it started up unexpectedly. It was 11 years on the same day when a worker was killed by a ride at that fair. There was a crashing sound and then two people were seen face down, as the ride operator fell to his knees crying. Five passengers were ejected and were all initially unconscious after trying to exit. The victims were ages 14 to 39.
In India, they arrest the ride operator after an accident like this. The usual trolls blame it on the tea party, GOP and lack of regulations of traveling carnival attractions, but their comment trail indicate some of them support Arafat and the Assad regime.

.Operator error
Oh boy, when I read this part "Norris said he turned around and saw two people face down. The ride's operator then fell to his knees crying, he said." I wondered if just maybe he had hit the lever or button or whatever turns it on, by mistake. I wouldn't go on one of those rides anyway but I suppose it is a price you can pay for a thrill.

My thoughts exactly. Those rides are manually operated. When I read it all I could think was he must have accidentally bumped the on switch or knob or whatever mechanism runs the ride.

Take a look at who assembles and runs these rides at traveling carnivals and county fairs. Every time you get on one of these rides you are putting your life in a carny's hands. Go to a permanent amusement park if you or your kids want to go on rides, professional, regulated, and properly insured. Yes accidents happen there to but they not as frequent and with big money on the line they generally have much tighter quality controls. I do go to the small carnivals but I just stick to playing the games.
I am from Raleigh, NC where the State Fair is located. The investigation is not complete yet. These rides are inspected 3 times a day by the Dept. of Labor. These are the same folks that inspect all the elevators and manufacturing equipment in the state of NC. Anything mechanical is subject to failure. The accident may or may not have been caused by operator error. No one knows yet. So please refrain from making nasty remarks until all the facts are in. Instead send best wishes to the injured for a complete and speedy recovery.
