October 24, 2013 At 6:45 a.m. the major freeway through Seattle I5 was closed northbound by a 7-10 vehicle pileup near Boeing field for over an hour. The crash was caused by a speeding driver following too close. A critically injured victim had to be extricated from the vehicle and was was unresponsive when he was transported to Harborview. An hour later, another collision at nearly the same location involved 5 vehicles injuring 5 in the southbound lanes. 30 people were evaluated for injuries. Northbound traffice was not restored until 8:40 a.m. The two soundbound lanes were cleared by 8:10 a.m.

The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday. KIRO 7 Traffic Anchor Alexis Smith said all lanes were blocked just north of the Boeing Access Road.
Another collision on southbound I-5, in about the same location as the northbound collisions, occured around 7:35 a.m. Seattle fire said that collision involved five vehicles and five people had minor injuries.
