Sep 17, 2013 · Driver Charged After Crash ... The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office says a Columbus woman is dead after an SUV crashed into a restaurant. The crash ...
the brakes failed on a driver's SUV as it drove down a hill. That SUV crashed into two parked cars and rolled over onto the restaurant's patio. "I just saw disarray of cars being bundled up together in a way that you wouldn't think in little Roscoe village, which is a quaint little village area," said restaurant owner John Larson. driver of the SUV Charles Miller, 28, was driving without a valid license. Because of this, investigators said they charged him with vehicular homicide. Deputies said a 1-month-old baby in the back seat of the SUV was uninjured.

Car smashes into downtown building By Nicole Chavez and Stefanie Dazio,June 25, 2013[this one sure looks like a terrorist attack in an expensive car] New high-end S-class mercedes jumped a curb downtown Tuesday evening, hurtled through an outdoor dining area and crashed into an office building, D.C. police said. Four people were injured, including a 2-year-old boy. Police said the car struck the building, which houses chef Michel Richard’s Central restaurant, at 11th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW at 6:19 p.m. A police captain on the scene said that the three injured adults were women, and that one appeared to be the driver of the car. It was not clear whether any of those injured were diners. All four were taken to hospitals. Timothy Wilson, a spokesman for the D.C. fire department, said the child and two adults had suffered life-threatening injuries. It was not immediately clear what caused the vehicle to veer from the street at a time when the area usually has heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Why the onslaught of drivers having "medical emergencies" lately Is that the new fad among defense attorneys?
agree--NBC reported that it was a Merc S-Class (http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Car-Jumps-Curb-Four-Hospitalized-in--213038221.html). Avoiding specific facts is becoming a distinct trait of WaPo reporting. I wouldn't be surprised if the reporter didn't even bother visiting the scene

A close friend of mine died in a single vehicle accident in January which had no apparent cause. His wife refuses to consider the possibility that he might have died because he lost control on account of fiiddling with the radio or adjusting the sunvisor or getting a kleenex from the glovebox. It's hard to accept that such everyday actions are capable of bringing about catastrophic results when something goes wrong to cause loss of control .

"Medical emergencies" can sometimes be proven at autopsy (though not in the case of my friend) but I think at other times are beliefs to which bereaved loved ones cling to avoid facing what they find to be unacceptable.

the driver of the Nissan, Monica Andrade, lost control of her car while trying to park it, struck and damaged another parked car, a green Mustang, and then hit the building, said Brockton police Lt. William Hallisey said.
“She was trying to park in the parking spot. For some reason, she lost control of the vehicle, hit that car and went right into the building,” Hallisey said.
As emergency crews tended to the female passenger who was complaining of back pain, the owner of the Mustang came outside, saw the damage to her car, and profanities were exchanged, said Hallisey.
“They started a big fight. They were going at it,” said Hallisey, minutes after he and a city firefighter worked to separate the people arguing.
An unidentified woman, who reportedly owns the Mustang, could be seen crying as she recounted her story to police. She told officers someone had stomped on her foot during the fight and called her profanities.
