People are running around the globe busy slashing tires of up to 100 or 200 cars and causing other damage or fires for no apparent reason or gain. They are being done in a specific manner to damage the sidewalls so the tire cannot be repaired, costing some owners up to 2,000 for multiple vehicles, and one woman did $4,000 damage to one car, claiming "jealous rage". It is generally assumed it is done by teens as a prank,  but it appears in eco-terrorism manuals, and fits the pattern of untraceable small scale attacks.

    It was a little more than two months ago when a 44-year-old butcher named David Toledo had a message for the vandal who was slashing car tires up and down his block of Aldine Street and on nearby streets in his Holmesburg neighborhood.


    “I feel like butchering the one who is doing this,” Toledo said shortly after reporting to police that all four tires on his Jeep Cherokee had been slashed, just one week after the same thing had happened to his wife’s car. Wednesday night, Toledo’s outraged neighbors had a message for him: Back at ya, pal. The news that police had arrested Toledo in connection with the wave of tire slashings that had plagued parts of the Northeast angered and infuriated his neighbors, as they spilled out onto front steps on a bright spring evening to gossip and to vent. Adding insult to the injured tires is the fact that Toledo had been arguably the most vocal neighbor in speaking out against the vandalism and in urging fellow residents to organize a community watch group to nab the slasher.


    Oliver Pagan, 32, said he was going to work at 4 a.m. one day this month when police found some slashed tires.“All of a sudden, [Toledo] comes out of his house, ‘Did tires get slashed? Did tires get slashed?’ How’d he know?” Pagan said. “I thought that was suspicious.”

He showed us two dozen police reports of complaints alleging various acts of vandalism by Toledo and one of his sons. He says they threw paint on his door just before one Christmas, threw a large rock through one of his windows, and slashed his tires among other things.  Police Wednesday revealed that Toledo did in fact have a history of slashing tires before he arrived on Aldine Street, but would not elaborate. as many as 55 automobiles were hit since early February.  In late March, Quincy Kramer, 20, of the 3300 block of Englewood Street in Philadelphia, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the slashing of nine tiresin the 3300 block of Cottman Avenue.

    Over in South Philadelphia, two arrests were made in early April for tire slashing incidents there.     Fourteen months after John Kerry narrowly carried Wisconsin in the 2004 presidential election amidst allegations of voter fraud, five campaign workers for the Kerry-Edwards campaign team are set for trial Tuesday in Milwaukee on felony charges of damage to property.

    The "Milwaukee Five" is charged with slashing 40 tires on 25 separate Republican vehicles on the morning of the 2004 presidential election. The vehicles were rented by the Wisconsin Republican Party to transport less-mobile voters to the polls on Election Day. In total, the vandals disabled 25 percent of the Republican Party's "Get Out the Vote" fleet.

    The defendants include Sowande Ajumoke Omokunde, the son of Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) who also goes by the name Supreme Solar Allah; Michael Pratt, the son of former Milwaukee Mayor Marvin Pratt and leader of Kerry's campaign team in Milwaukee; Lewis Caldwell; Lavelle Mohammed, and Justin Howell.

    According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, four of the defendants were paid operatives of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, including Omokunde and Pratt.
    Simmons told Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney David Feiss that he saw the defendants dressed in "Mission Impossible type gear" at Democratic Party headquarters sometime around 3 a.m. on the morning of the election.

    When Simmons asked the five what they were planning, defendant Lavelle Mohammed allegedly responded, "You don't want to know, don't ask.


    The defendants returned to Democratic headquarters approximately 20 minutes later. Simmons told investigators they were jubilant and shared details of their vandalism spree with him. "We got 'em," said Pratt. "We hit the tires."
