September 17, 2018 Evon Stephens Brooklyn mall arson destroys 132 Mercedes Benz cars Authorities bought the story that homeless man Evon Stephens 23 confessed that he started a Brooklyn mall fire because he believed people were having sex in parked Mercedes Benzes. The fire was in a parking garage at the Kings Plaza shopping mall, and 132 cars mostly belonging to a nearby Mercedes Benz dealer worth up to 7 to 9  million dollars were destroyed.(1) The mall was closed for two days, and the fire left 21 people injured, including 18 firefighters. ,(3)

No evidence pointed to terrorism or sabotage as another possible motive.
