About Ezra Pound

About Ezra Pound

Ezra Pound was a noted American poet who was best known for moving to Italy in 1924 where he embraced Benito Mussolini's fascism, strongly supported Adolf Hitler and wrote for publications owned by Oswald Mosley. The Italian government paid him during the Second World War to make hundreds of radio broadcasts criticizing the United States and Jews from Mussolini's Fascist Italy in War II. When captured by American forces in 1945, he was arrested for treason, and spent 25 days in a six-by-six-foot outdoor steel cage that he said triggered a mental breakdown. Deemed unfit to stand trial, he was incarcerated in St. Elizabeths psychiatric hospital in Washington, D.C., for over 12 years.

He was born in a frontier town in Idaho in 1885, the son of an assistant assayer and the grandson of a Congressman. He blamed usury and international capitalism (along with Jews and and "banksters") for World War I and II. According to his student Eustace in the "NEW HISTORY of the JEWS", Ezra concluded from his study of Byzantine civilization that "The answer to the Jewish problem is simple, Keep them out of banking, out of education, out of government."

Today he is still widely admired on the internet by websites of anti-semites, 9-11 truthers, holocaust deniers, neo-Nazis, neo-Facists, libertarians and alternative / progressive media. His supporters have included Eustace Mullins, Willis Carto's Barnes Review, Countercurrents, DavidDuke.com, Iran Book News agency, Michael Collins Piper, and Saman Mohmmadi. He has been compared to other giants in anti-semitism such as Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh and Father Coughlin.

      .Eustace Mullins

      http://blacksuninvictus.org/ezrapound1.html
Excepted from NEW HISTORY of the JEWS
      By Eustace Mullins

In all of recorded history, there was only one civilization which the Jews could not destroy. Because of this, they have given it the silent treatment. Few American college graduates with a Ph.D. degree could tell you what the Byzantine Empire was.

It was the Empire of East Rome, set up by Roman leaders after the Jews had destroyed Rome. This empire functioned in Constantinople for twelve hundred years, the longest duration of any empire in the history of the world.

Throughout the history of Byzantium, as it was known, by imperial edict, no Jew was allowed to hold any post in the Empire, nor was he allowed to educate the young. The Byzantine Empire finally fell to the Turks after twelve centuries of prosperity, and the Jews have attempted to wipe out all traces of its history.

Yet its edicts against the Jews were not cruel; in fact, the Jews lived unmolested and prosperously in the empire throughout its history, but here alone the vicious cycle of host and parasite did not take place.

It was a Christian civilization, and the Jews were not able to exercise any influence. Nor did the Orthodox priests bewilder their congregations with any vicious lies about Christ being a Jew.

No wonder the Jews want to eradicate the memory of such a culture.

It was Ezra Pound who launched upon a study of Byzantine civilization, and who reminded the world of this happily non-Jewish land.

From the Byzantines, Pound derived his no-violent formula for controlling the Jews.

"The answer to the Jewish problem is simple," he said.

"Keep them out of banking, out of education, out of government."

And this is how simple it is.

There is no need to kill the Jews. In fact, every pogrom in history has played into their hands, and has in many instances been cleverly instigated by them.

Get the Jews out of banking and they cannot control the economic life of the community.

Get the Jews out of education and they can not pervert the minds of the young to their subversive doctrines.

Get the Jews out of government and they cannot betray the nation.

      http://factsnotfairies.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-trial-of-ezra-pound.html
Some quotes from Eustace Mullins' 'This Difficult Individual EZRA POUND'( 1961), the only authorized biography of Pound:

"Ezra Pound was not interested in Mussolini merely as one who could make the trains run on time, and meet the interest payments on Italian bonds held in London and New York vaults."

"The editorial page of the 'B'nai B'rith Messenger' of April 8, 1955, carried this note: "TALKING ABOUT unsavory characters, you might be interested in the fact that Ezra Pound, the poet who joined Hitler and Mussolini in the campaign of extermination of Jews, is well taken care of in the St. Elizabeths Hospital for mental diseases, in Washington, D.C."

This was typical of the allegations that were hurled against Pound throughout his imprisonment. This was the gratitude that was offered him for the forty years during which he helped Jewish poets, and shielded them from the death cars of the Gestapo. Pound had publicly criticized Hitler, was persona non grata with the Nazi government, as proven by their refusal to grant him a pass to Katyn, and had met Mussolini only once."

"When Ezra Pound was mentioned in literary periodicals, he was now (in 1943) condemned as a "Nazi", although he was persona non grata with the German government. He had publicly criticized Hitler as being "too hysterical", and at no time was he on good terms with any official of the Nazi regime."

" ...the legend was spread by his detractors that Pound was a key figure in the Mussolini government, a sort of Rudolf Hess in Rome... Pound had only one interview with Mussolini, although he never gave up hope of converting Il Duce to his monetary theories."

    .Facism

    http://www.english.illinois.edu/maps/poets/m_r/pound/fascism.htm
To what extent did Pound commit himself during the 1930s not only to Mussolini as a leader but also to fascism as an ideology? And to what extent do the cantos which he wrote during this period serve as a vehicle for such an ideology?
    [….]
[T]he statement "Ezra Pound was a fascist" seems to me indisputably true . . . . Yet . . . while I would be willing to call Pound a fascist, I do not believe that The Cantos can accurately be labelled a "fascist poem," simply because Pound’s political ideology undergoes a radical decomposition—or, if you like, a deconstruction—as it is transmuted by Pound’s ideogrammic method

Thus fascism finds its logical fulfillment m a militarism directed against the enemy without and an anti-semitism which seeks to destroy the enemy within. As fascism summoned Italians and Germans to arm themselves in order to seize or to defend what was "rightfully" theirs, militarism and a cult of violence became not an accidental but an essential component of this movement. In Mussolini’s words
Fascism believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace. It thus repudiates the doctrine of Pacifism—born of a renunciation of the struggle and an act of cowardice in the face of sacrifice. War alone brings up to its highest tension all human energy and puts the stamp of nobility upon the peoples who have the courage to meet it.

Ezra Pound, Ella Wheeler Wilcox and Harry Mulisch are the acclaimed authors who were born or died on a day like this.
Ezra Pound Ezra Weston Loomis Pound (30 October 1885 – 1 November 1972) was an American expatriate poet and critic, who became a major figure of the early modernist movement. His contribution to poetry began with his promotion of Imagism, a movement that derived its technique from classical Chinese and Japanese poetry, stressing clarity, precision and economy of language. His best-known works include Ripostes (1912), Hugh Selwyn Mauberley (1920) and his unfinished 120-section epic, The Cantos (1917–1969).
Working in London in the early 20th century as foreign editor of several American literary magazines, Pound helped to discover and shape the work of contemporaries such as T. S. Eliot, James Joyce, Robert Frost and Ernest Hemingway. He was responsible for the publication in 1915 of Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" and for the serialization from 1918 of Joyce's Ulysses. Hemingway wrote of him in 1925: "He defends [his friends] when they are attacked, he gets them into magazines and out of jail. ... He writes articles about them. He introduces them to wealthy women. He gets publishers to take their books. He sits up all night with them when they claim to be dying ... he advances them hospital expenses and dissuades them from suicide."
Outraged by the loss of life during the First World War, he lost faith in England, blaming the war on usury and international capitalism. He moved to Italy in 1924, where throughout the 1930s and 1940s, to his friends' dismay, he embraced Benito Mussolini's fascism, expressed support for Adolf Hitler and wrote for publications owned by Oswald Mosley. The Italian government paid him during the Second World War to make hundreds of radio broadcasts criticizing the United States, as a result of which he was arrested for treason by American forces in Italy in 1945. He spent months in detention in a U.S. military camp in Pisa, including 25 days in a six-by-six-foot outdoor steel cage that he said triggered a mental breakdown, "when the raft broke and the waters went over me." Deemed unfit to stand trial, he was incarcerated in St. Elizabeths psychiatric hospital in Washington, D.C., for over 12 years.
While in custody in Italy, he had begun work on sections of The Cantos that became known as The Pisan Cantos (1948), for which he was awarded the Bollingen Prize in 1949 by the Library of Congress, triggering enormous controversy. He was released from St. Elizabeths in 1958, thanks to a campaign by his fellow writers, and returned to live in Italy until his death. His political views ensure that his work remains controversial; in 1933 Time magazine called him "a cat that walks by himself, tenaciously unhousebroken and very unsafe for children." Hemingway nevertheless wrote: "The best of Pound's writing – and it is in the Cantos – will last as long as there is any literature."

From 1945 through 1958 America’s iconoclastic poet — the flamboyant Ezra Pound, one of the most influential individuals of his generation — was held in a Washington, D.C. mental institution, accused of treason. Pound had merely done what he had always done — spoken his mind. Unfortunately for Pound, however, he had made the error of criticizing the American government in a series of broadcasts from Italy during World War II.For that he was made to pay the price....One critic called Pound’s broadcasts a “confused mixture of fascist apologetics, economic theory, anti-Semitism, literary judgment and memory” Another described them as “an unholy mixture of ambiguity, obscurity, inappropriate subject matters [and] vituperation,” adding (grudgingly) there were “a few pearls of unexpected wisdom.”

... the American government alliance with British finance capitalism and Soviet Bolshevism was contrary to America’s tradition and heritage: “Why did you take up with those gangs?” he rhetorically asked his listeners.

Two gangs. [The] Jews’ gang in London, and [the] Jew murderous gang over in Moscow? Do you like Mr. Litvinov? [Soviet ambassador to Britain Meyer Wallach, alias Litvinov, born 1876. -- Ed.] Do the people from Delaware and Virginia and Connecticut and Massachusetts . . . who live in painted, neat, white houses . . . do these folks really approve [of] Mr. Litvinov and his gang, and all he stands for?

” According to Pound: “The United States has been misinformed. The United States has been led down the garden path, and may be down under the daisies. All through shutting out news.

American poet Ezra Pound tried to point out this truth to the American people but he was branded as an anti-Semite and painted in the image of the crazy uncle in the attic. He was then thrown in a psychiatric hospital by the hijacked U.S. government for exercising his free speech and expressing a dissenting opinion about the foundations of America's economic and banking structure.

Ron Paul is the world's biggest monetary and economic reformer in the 21st century, and he has also been branded as a crazy uncle and a nutcase. But this is all bankster propaganda.

Ezra Pound, for instance, a giant of American literature, who was immensely respected in his day (like Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, and Father Coughlin). It’s hard to even find Ezra Pound’s writings on Fascism/National Socialism and economic theory—which can go a long way in explaining the appeal of these ideologies in the 1920s and 1930s. But Pound and the Fascists/National Socialist advocated many policies that were extremely “progressive.” FDR and the New Deal mimicked many of these policies

    http://willyloman.wordpress.com/2013/09/24/the-act-of-killing/
Fascism and National Socialism were defeated by the Capitalist/mafia overlords that currently rule the World (with an assist by the Bolshevik Socialists). These Capitalist/mafia/Bolshevik victors were able to rewrite history and redefine Fascism and National Socialism. So much so that it’s extremely hard to recover this history now. Take Ezra Pound, for instance, a giant of American literature, who was immensely respected in his day (like Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, and Father Coughlin). It’s hard to even find Ezra Pound’s writings on Fascism/National Socialism and economic theory—which can go a long way in explaining the appeal of these ideologies in the 1920s and 1930s. But Pound and the Fascists/National Socialist advocated many policies that were extremely “progressive.” FDR and the New Deal mimicked many of these policies.
Burton Hatlen’s article linked above blames Pound and the Fascist/National Socialist movement’s demise on their “nihilism”–of focusing on external enemies. But I think there is a valid defense that this fear of an external threat was based on the reality of the forces arrayed against them.
