In the Bihar train disaster on June 6, 1981, a passenger train carrying 800 or more passengers[1] between Mansi and Saharsa,India derailed and plunged into the river Bagmati while it was crossing a bridge.
After five days, more than 200 bodies were recovered, with hundreds more missing that were feared washed away by the river.[2][1]Estimates of total deaths range from 500 to 800 or more.[1] The accident is among the deadliest-ever rail accident on record.
The cause of the accident is uncertain as there are multiple causes listed online:

        They were BJP followers, and the driver was a Muslim. Sure. Feel sorry for Nitish, nothing is working for him in Bihar, what with the erstwhile secular votebankers now getting ready to genuflect before Hindu banks. This incident goes to highlight the Bihar Development model. People behaving like stampeding creatures in the wild. Jiski lathi uski bhains level of lawlessness that respects not even the force of the onrushing trains! As if endless buring of tyres and rastarokos will get them out of poverty. No sympathy from votebanker politicians for real grassroots problems of the suffering masses, is the Bihar Model of Development. It has only one plank, send the problem to Delhi and Mumbai. Join the great rape and pillage of other quasi-developed lands, since there is nothing for them in Bihar itself.

          Thank god the driver was not Muslim, otherwise the followers of the "religion of tolerance" would have started another riot with false accusations.
          P.S. Every single inquiry into the Godhra incident apart from the Gujarat government's own investigation has revealed that the fire was started inside the compartment by cooking equipment - Umesh Chandra Banerjee report, Hazards Centre (team of IIT experts), Concerned Citizens Tribunal etc.
