April 10, 2015 7 injured, truck destroyed, vehicles damaged 2015 Thailand Koh Samui Car Bomb A car bomb explodes in a Mazda pickup truck left in the basement garage of a shopping mall in the first attack on the popular Thai tourist island of Koh Samui. Seven were wounded including a girl from Italy. There was a second attack at almost the same time when a cooperative warehouse in Surat Thai was set on fire.  Government blamed "red shirt" radicals who had bombed Bangkok in February, but others pointed to Muslim ethnic Malay separatists from the province of Yala, 500 km and 8 hours away where the truck was stolen from and 6,300 have been killed in clashes since 2011.

Details:  The blast was believed to be linked to two small bombs which exploded outside a shopping mall in Bangkok in early February, injuring two people. The government was quick to blame radical "Red Shirts" which sought to discredit the government. But the government appeared to have ruled out muslim insurgents, though the had been stolen from Yala, the southernmost border provinces of 3 where clashes and attacks by ethnic Malay muslim separatists have killed over 6,300 and wounded over 11,000 people since 2011, and where car bombs had previously targeted other tourist destinations. Some security forces have linked the attack to Ubaidillah Rommuhli, a local insurgent leader believed to be behind a number of other high profile attacks on tourist venues, including the April 2012 bombing of a hotel in Hat Yai.
