Anti-Israel rants and 9/11 conspiracy theories often made Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's fiery speeches to the U.N. General Assembly a cue for many Western delegates to leave the chamber.  But all eyes will be on Hassan Rouhani, the centrist cleric who was elected as Iran's new president in June, when he steps onto the world stage at this year's gathering in New York later this month. Rouhani's Cabinet includes Mohammad Javad Zarif as foreign minister. Zarif studied at San Francisco State University and the University of Denver, speaks fluent English and served as Tehran's ambassador to the U.N. from 2002-2007. On Thursday, Zarif tweeted a "Happy Rosh Hashana" message to Jews and then distanced himself from Ahmadinejad's views on the Holocaust in a Twitter exchange with Christine Pelosi, the daughter of Rep. Syrian Rebel Ziya Tasali Killed American Woman in Turkey
In March 2013  Homeless scrap-paper collector Ziya Tasali, 46 confessed to bludgeoing 33-year-old American tourist Sarai Sierra to death in Istanbul in January but denied trying to rape her in a half hour struggle. The body of the New York woman was found in the ruins of Istanbul’s old city ten days after the attack. The man said he had sniffed glue before he attacked the petite 33-year-old. He claimed he was angry because she refused to kiss him. The suspect escaped to Syria where he was wounded fighting with the rebels in Syria. He was captured when he returned to Turkey.

Alternate theory: Claim that he was high on glue, and was angry about kissing is just a cover story. That he fought with Syrian rebels indicates he is also a militant jihadist with an obvious motive to kill Americans using crime as a cover.
