Soldier Insider Attacks | Terroristic Incidents
November 5, 2013 Daily Mail reports on the shooting of British soldiers Corporal Brent McCarthy and Lance Corporal Lee Davies by a member of the Afghan Uniformed Police who had just posed with them in a photograph. The assailant was shot dead by a British guardsman as he fled. They were part of an eight-man team visiting an Afghan police base in Helmand province on May 12 with an RAF policeman acting as a specialist adviser. Officials speculated it may have been that "the Afghans had been turned by the Taliban". At the time it was estimated there was a one in ten chance of an insider attack, and the visit was to inquire with the local commander that the Taliban had infiltrated his unit.
