Abdelhakim Dekhar Hits Leftist Newspaper and Bank In France November 18, 2013 Paris, France: A gunman Abdelhakim Dekhar in a black vest, black cap and green shirt with a pump operated shotgun opened fired at the headquarters of the left-wing Liberation newspaper, critically injuring a photographer assistant and two hours at the bank Société Générale. The man at the newspaper "walked in, fired twice and left”. There was no clear motive, but it appears to be the same suspect, a European-looking male, around 40, carrying a hunting rifle or similar weapon. The same man was seen Friday Nov. 15 at the offices of news channel BFMTV who showed his rifle without firing a shot vowing "Next time, I won't miss you." Dekhar was later arrested. Abdelhakim Dekhar was convicted 1994 as the third man in the so-called Rey-Maupin affair, named after a young couple who bungled an attempt to steal weapons from guards, killing three policemen and a taxi driver as well as Audry Maupin un a chase and shootout. At his trial in 1998, Dekhar claimed he had been recruited by the Algerian secret service to infiltrate the French far-left. The investigation was treating it as possibly terrorist-related, but police were unclear what motivated the attacks, Debbie Schlussel speculated he might have been an Islamic jihadist.

. The 65-year-old man who had been briefly taken hostage told police that his assailant claimed to have a hand grenade and said he had just gotten out of jail.
"Our main lead is that there is a single perpetrator," prosecutor François Molins told a news conference. He said his staff was investigating any possible motivation, including terrorism.

police believe the same suspect appeared on video captured last week at the offices of the all-news channel BFMTV.
On Friday, Nov 15 the alleged shooter walked into the hallway of the station's offices in the 15th arrondissement, according to Mr. Molins and the video footage. Pulling a shotgun from a large bag, the man arms it before threatening one of the network's staffers: "Next time, I won't miss you."

One appeared to be a suicide note, and the other was a "rather confused" letter evoking "fascist plots."
Molins said the second letter accuses the media of "participating in the manipulation of the masses, journalists are paid to make the citizens swallow lies with a little spoon."
The letter also criticizes capitalism and government neglect of suburban housing projects, which he calls "an enterprise of dehumanization of a population forgotten by the capitalist elite."

had written a "confused" letter criticizing media manipulation and capitalism and including a vague reference to Syria, authorities said Thursday. Police found him in a "semi-conscious state" after an attempt to kill himself with medication a reticent person with a nice family who claimed to work for the French and Algerian secret services.

The BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris says justice officials have been quoted as saying that Abdelhakim Dekhar was convicted for his role in a notorious criminal affair in 1994.
Our correspondent says Mr Dekhar is believed to have been the third man in the so-called Rey-Maupin affair, named after a young couple who bungled an attempt to steal weapons from guards and then hijacked a taxi.
In the subsequent chase and shootout, three policemen and a taxi driver were killed, as well as Audry Maupin.
His girlfriend, Florence Rey, was released from jail a few years ago. At his trial in 1998, Abdelhakim Dekhar protested his innocence, claiming he had been recruited by the Algerian secret service to infiltrate the French far-left.
