Aloeng Vang has been found guilty of one count of first-degree murder and second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 50-year-old Jeffrey Elling, of St. Paul, who confronted Vang for driving recklessly through his neighborhood in September 2013.
Vang eventually admitted he shot Elling, saying "I should have just whooped his ass," and that he was angry following their altercation. Vang said his shots weren't supposed to hit Elling, but rather, he was just trying to frighten him... Vang admitted to relatives he was angry because he felt Elling disrespected him, but that reason is admittedly baffling to Elling's family.

Aloeng Kelly Vang, 19, who told police he was a former gang member, was angry after a confrontation Sunday with Jeffrey Thomas Elling, according to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court. He rang the doorbell at Elling's East Side home and shot him, the complaint said.
