And what is it that has put so many Lincolnophiles on the defensive? You might say they are the same things that bother libertarians and traditional conservatives about today’s leaders.
Then as now critics objected to Lincoln’s unnecessary war of coercion in which 650,000 soldiers and countless civilians died. In this time of preventable conflicts, Lincoln’s war against the CSA was the bloodiest and arguably most needless military adventure in American history, one fought — not to free slaves, but to crush an independence movement. Second, disgruntled Americans are reconsidering the idea of secession. Secessionist movements are finding fertile soil from Vermont to Alaska.

The Victors Write the War History - but Should Their Lies be Immortal? (VT celebrates Confederate Heritage Month and shares bylines with alternative media PressTV) [Editors Note: I was 46 before I learned that Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation did not free a single slave anywhere. We are re-running Steve's article for Confederate Heritage Month - April, 2013, because it is a classic ....Jim W. Dean] by Steve Scroggins Lincoln’s Proclamation Did Not Free a Single Slave The most persistent and pernicious Big Lie regarding the so-called “Civil War”— more properly called the “War to Prevent Southern Independence”— is this: Noble and saintly Yankees fought the war to abolish slavery; evil Confederates fought to preserve it. The historical record incontrovertibly refutes this Big Lie and yet it lives on, repeated incessantly by many who know better, and by many, many more who accept without challenge what they were taught in government schools. The proverbial phrase “the victors write the history” was well-known well before the war. In fact, General Patrick R. Cleburne, arguing for freeing slaves in exchange for military service, warned what would happen should the South’s bid for independence fail. Also April 18 The Culture War on Confederate Heritage
Ron Paul’s “South Was Right” Civil War Speech With Confederate Flag
Ron Paul has made no secret the fact that he thought that the South was right in the Civil War. Here he is giving a speech in front of a giant Confederate Flag about why he believes the North was wrong in the Civil War and why the South was right.Ron Paul is a neo-Confederate, and proud member of the Ludwig Von Mises Institute, which has been labeled as a neo-Confederate organization. In the video he claims that the North should have paid to buy slaves from southern slave owners to avoid the war, rather than the South renouncing slavery. Paul also fails to bring up the fact that it was the South that started the war by attacking the North in 1861
Abraham Lincoln: Liar? Racist? Tyrant?!
Chris Miller Jun 16, 2012 @ 10:03 pm
It's amazing that people concern themselves with Lincoln's racism, but not with his acts of ruthless brutality and imperialism in conquering sovereign states by Total War without limit or restraint-- including under false pretense of denying that national sovereignty. It's just like what Saddam Hussein did to Kuwait, and we fought a major war to STOP-- but Lincoln did it to the sovereign American states, and still the federal goverment draws validation from that act despite that the states are proven sovereign, ignorance to this fact notwithstanding.
