2015 Xinjiang Coal Mine Terrorist Attack

2015 Xinjiang Coal Mine Terrorist Attack ---

September 18, 2015 2015 Xinjiang Coal Mine Terrorist Attack 50 killed. At least 50 people died in a knife and truck attack at a coal mine in China's far-western muslim Uyghur dominated Xinjiang province. At least five police officers were stabbed to death by separatists. The attack was "a long-planned, well-prepared, large-scale attack by separatists against police officers and mine owners at a coal field in our county", according to a government notice cited by Radio Free Asia. Trucks loaded with coal were used to ram police vehicles, and most of the workers who were not on shift were killed or injured as they were sleeping or getting ready to work. Most hurt were members of the Han Chinese majority.  The government blames the threats from Islamist terrorists, militants and separatists, but exiles and rights groups say China has never presented convincing evidence of the existence of a cohesive militant group fighting the government.
