Only one of these attacks / accidents was by a white racist vowing a civil war. Most violence at black churches or their pastors appear to be, or are made to appear to be merely random events by random criminals, mentally disturbed or DUI drivers with no political motivation or targeting.

crime: arson November 1, 2016 Vote Trump Church Fire After a black church was set on fire and tagged "Vote Trump", the man accused of setting fire was a black church member Andrew McClinton who may have staged the fire to look like a hate crime, but police say it was not a political statement but hiding something else he did. 

3 injured 1 arrested September 20, 2015 Black Suspect Shoots Girlfriend, His Baby and White Pastor at Alabama Church Sunday Service  At the Oasis Tabernacle Church in Selma, Alabama James Junior Minter was arrested after police say he walked into the church service, sat down next to his girlfriend and mother of his son in the front row, then suddenly shot her in the face and his baby in the hand. Police believe he was motivated because he was upset over a recent breakup and visitation issues with his son. Pastor Robert Carswell was shot in the leg when he grabbed Minter and others took his gun away. Minter fled but was captured by police. Police believe that although the Pastor was white, the shooting does not appear to have been racially motivated as his girlfriend and her baby are also black.

1 injured, suspect arrested July 28, 2015 Houston Area Black Pastor Shoots Burglary Suspect Who Breaks Into Restaurant Week Later In Baytown 20 miles east of Houston, black Pastor Benny Holmes was awakened at dawn, took his pistol and found Lee Marvin Blue, 27, also black, had forced a door open to the church and was going from room to room, gathering electronic equipment, including laptop computers. When Holmes yelled at the burglar to stop,but  when the man turned aggressively toward him and he fired a shot, striking Blue in the shoulder. Blue was a transient who known to local police. Less than a week later, was arrested again for breaking into a fast-food restaurant.  Pastor is a Vietnam veteran, who in September, 2014, when he confronted a suspected package thief grandmother in his front yard. He held the woman at gunpoint while he called the cops. His sermon afterwards was why God said to “arm yourself.”

9 killed 1 injured  June 17, 2015 Charleston South Carolina Black church shooting  In the evening a mass shooting took place at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, one of the United States' oldest black churches. The senior pastor, the Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney, a state senator, was among the nine people killed. Suspect Dylann Roof was captured the morning after the attack in Shelby, North Carolina. On his Facebook page his jacket unusually has flags of two former white supremacist regimes:apartheid-era South Africa and Rhodesia, symbols once but now rarely associated in recent times by white supremacists. Roof has a prior arrest record for drug possession and trespassing. Authorities are investigating if it was a hate crime.

1 killed, 2 questioned  July 10, 2014  Miami Liberty City Pastor Murdered for Fake Gold Chain  Well-known Liberty City Pastor Kenneth Johnson was ambushed, shot and killed outside a local market, with the cover story that he was robbed for a fake gold chain. He walks the streets and passes out food. He was ambushed by two men who are waiting for him. Two men were caught and questioned. He was one of a series of black pastors and church musicians mysteriously murdered in 2013 and 2014

2 injured June 29, 2014  Car crashes into church building in Compton Two people were injured Sunday when a Scion Tc apparently lost control and crashed at high speed into the corner of the predominantly black  Chrisma Christian Fellowship Church in Compton. Firefighters had to remove the victims from the wreckage which was wrapped around a pillar.  Unconfirmed reports indicate that a female passenger of the vehicle died en route to the hospital.

April 20, 2014 Casualties: 21 injured Car Slams Into Packed Fort Myers Black Church At Easter In Fort Myers Florida, a car plowed into the predominantly black Second Haitian Baptist Church filled with 200 people just before the Easter concert on Sunday night, injuring 21. The driver claimed it wasn't deliberate when her brakes failed, her car just headed straight for the church and she could not stop.

4 shot 1 critical suspect arrested January 27, 2014 North Carolina Church Playground Shooting There was a shooting at predominantly black Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. A gunman sprayed a church playground basketball court with gunfire and escaped before 6 p.m. 15 shots injured 4 youths, gravely wounding one 12 year old boy. 17-year-old Shyheim Collins of Rocky Mount was arrested and charged.

January 8-12 2014 San Jose Serial Arsonist Sets Dozen Fires in a Week Greater Saint John Baptist Church on E. San Antonio St. in San Jose (black church) was damaged by arson, and another fire was set on the property on Sunday January 12. A series of fires have been evidently set by the same person in the Roosevelt, Little Portugal, Wooster and Five Wounds neighborhoods, as well as the eastern parts of the Brookwood Terrace, Naglee Park and Northside neighborhoods near downtown San Jose, California. January 13 was the first time in six days there were no suspicious fires after a string of 12 suspicious fires over five consecutive days.


November 10, 2013 Pastor Teddy Parker commits suicide as congregation waits for him after confessing sometimes he "can't feel God" Pastor Teddy Parker of Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, committed suicide while his congregation waited for him to arrive on Sunday. The 42-year-old Georgia pastor tragically killed himself with a "self-inflicted gunshot wound" on Nov. 10. The father-of-two's body was discovered by his wife Larrinecia Parker in the driveway of their home after he did not show up for service at his church.


Friday September 27, 2013 Assassination of Louisiana Pastor Ronald J. Harris At 8:20 p.m. at the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana, a black gunman Woodrow Karey walked up to black pastor Ronald J. Harris as he was singing and preaching before 60 people. Karey shot him once at close range, and hit him again when Harris fell to the floor. A 22 caliber pistol and shotgun were found nearby in the woods, and Karey called the police to turn himself in afterwards. No motive has been given, and the pastor's daughter has no idea why Karey stopped going to the church and then came back to murder. Karey later told police he had seen inappropriate text message sent by his wife to the pastor and Karey's wife had filed rape charges against Harris two days for his shocking murder

September 20, 2013 Murder of Deirdre Smith Pastor Over Women Feuding African-american pastor Deirdre Smith was trying to intervene in an argument between two men which escalated into her being shot and killed by 17 yr old Khalil Kelly, of Austell and Samuel Blackwell, 33 who were charged in her death of pastor. Smith was the mother of two children and grandmother to three, and may have been accidentally hit in the crossfire

Pastor  Manard Giles Jr Killed By Wrong Way Murderer Jun 23, 2013 - A 77-year-old pastor Manard Giles Jr., the pastor at The Answer Community Church from Quartz Hill died when a suspected drunken driver headed in the wrong direction on the 17 Antelope Valley Freeway The crash also severely injured Giles' two passengers, both church members, family members said. Giles and his passengers were returning home from a church retreat in San Diego when the crash occurred. The crash occurred before dawn when Bradford E. Pate, 38, allegedly steered his 2006 Toyota truck south onto the northbound lanes and collided with Giles' 2006 Chrysler 300 on the 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road. this was the SECOND wrong-way crash on the same stretch of freeway this past week. On Monday, June 17, a driver who was under the influence of methamphetamines crashed into eight vehicles and injured 13 people about 4:36 p.m. Three of those injured were listed in critical condition at a nearby hospital Wrong-way driver charged with murdering 2 local residents AV Times Staff June 25, 2013  Los Angeles County prosecutors today charged a wrong-way driver with two counts of murder and other charges after he slammed his pickup truck into oncoming traffic Burbank resident Bradford Pate, 38, was also charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury and DUI over .08 percent alcohol causing injury. Pate allegedly entered the northbound lanes (alcohol does not explain deliberate driving wrong way) heading southbound shortly before 3:30 a.m. Saturday (June 22). pickup truck crashed head-on into  Rev. Manard Giles, 77. pronounced dead at the scene.

April 30, 2013 WAVY - Local black pastor killed in Florida beating A man has confessed (false cover story for deliberate assasination) to killing a Newport News pastor in Florida with a hammer in order to obtain crack cocaine, according to officials. Apostle John Henry Bowser was beat to death with a hammer Tuesday April 30 morning. Officials arrested Terrence Wright, 24, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., after he drove the victim's car to a police station and confessed to the crime. Police found the 76-year-old victim dead in the kitchen of his home, which is right next to the church.

March 31, 2013 Reshad Riddle Declares Will of Allah And Shoots His Father at Easter Services at Black Church After Easter Sunday services, 24 year old Muslim convert Reshad Riddle entered the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ in Ohio with a handgun and a Koran and shot his father. He then walked to the pulpit, waving his gun and shouted that this was the "the will of Allah. He was arrested by police who were unable to establish if his motive was related to references to his religion or if it was just a family issue. Reshad quoted the Koran after the murder telling a police officer that he had "served his purpose" and that he "found solace in his religion after he shot his father”
  • Monday October 29, 2012 Pastor Danny Kirk Killed in Black Church By Electric Guitar Terrorist Rev. Danny Kirk Sr., founding pastor of the Greater Sweethome Missionary was attacked in the parking lot after Derrick Anthony Birdow drove his Mercury Grand Marquis into the church wall just before noon. Birdow chased Kirk into the church where police arrived to see Birdow striking Kirk with an electric guitar that was already in the church. They used a Taser to subdue the man, handcuffed him, and locked him in their patrol car, where he died the same day when he was found unresponsive in the back of a patrol car. Monday June 4, 2012: In Venice CA, four men drove up to Oscar Duncan and jeered at his girlfriend as the two stood on a Venice street. They shouted a "Shoreline Crips" (a gang name), and fired a single fatal shot to the head. Duncan was a black youth pastor at Greater Zion Church in Compton, dubbed "choir boy" because of his love of music. Detectives could not determine the motive for choosing Duncan as a target. In June 2013 Co-defendants Kevin Dwayne Green, 29, and Nichole Sheran, 18 were arrested, and later charged with one count of murder with gang enhancements. In January 2013, Hopeton Parsley, 23, a Playboy Gangster Crip was also charged with the shooting

April 12, 2012 Pastor's mother shot at Destiny Christian Center  Josephine Echols, African American mother of the Pastor at Destiny Christian Center near Aurora Colorado was shot and killed when she ran out to investigate when suspect Kiarron Parker  crashed his nearly new Dodge charger into the parking lot.  It is now known if the church was targeted or random.

April 4, 1968  Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. - (Wikipedia)  Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American clergyman and civil rights leader who was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday, April 4, 1968, at the age of 39.  He escaped from the Missouri State Penitentiary in 1967 by hiding in a truck transporting bread from the prison bakery. Following his escape, Ray stayed on the move, going first to St. Louis and then on to Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, and Birmingham. When he got to Alabama, Ray stayed long enough to buy a 1966 Ford Mustang and get an Alabama driver's license. He then drove to Mexico, using the alias Eric Starvo Galt, attempted to establish himself as a pornography director. In Los Angeles, he got interested in the George Wallace presidential campaign, hated African Americans and drawn to Wallace's segregationist platform, volunteering at the campaign headquarters in North Hollywood, and considered emigrating to Rhodesia would be his intended destination after King's assassination. On March 18, 1968, Ray left Los Angeles and began a cross-country drive to Atlanta, Georgia.  FBI agents later found a map with the church and residence of Martin Luther King Jr. circled.When the Atlanta paper reported King's planned return trip to Memphis, Tennessee, April 2, 1968, Ray packed a bag and drove to Memphis. At The Lorraine Motel Martin Luther King was killed by a single rifle shot on April 4, 1968, while standing on the second-floor balcony. Man believed to be James Earl Ray was seen fleeing from a rooming house across the street, package was dumped that included a rifle and binoculars, both found with Ray's fingerprints. Ray fled to Canada and acquired a fake Canadian passport under the false name of Ramon George Sneyd. Two months after King's death, Ray was captured at London's Heathrow Airport while trying to leave the United Kingdom on the false Canadian passport.  He confessed to the crime on March 10, 1969, his 41st birthday, and after pleading guilty was sentenced to 99 years in prison. Dr. William Pepper, a man associated with conspiracy theorists became a friend of King in the last year of his life, represented Ray in a televised mock trial in an attempt to get him the trial he never had. Pepper later represented the King family in a wrongful death civil trial against Loyd Jowers. The King family has since concluded that Ray did not have anything to do with the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The task was given to Yuri Modin, deputy head of Service A (KGB's disinformation unit). Modin is an interesting character who has been largely ignored by historians. Modin was the man who in 1947 he was sent to London and became the main contact of Kim Philby, Donald Maclean, Guy Burgess, Anthony Blunt and John Cairncross. Modin also arranged the flight of Maclean and Burgess in 1951 and was in Beirut when Philby went missing in January 1963.

One of the great ironies in history is that while the KGB were trying to portray King as betraying African-Americans, J. Edgar Hoover was telling William C. Sullivan, the head of the Intelligence Division of the FBI, that “King was an instrument of the Communist Party” and posed “a serious threat to the security of the country.” Hoover instructed Sullivan to get evidence that “King had a relationship with the Soviet bloc”. Despite an intensive surveillance campaign, Sullivan was unable to find a clear link between King and the Communist Party of the United States. This did not stop Hoover from using his contacts in the press to write stories giving the impression that King was a communist.

The KGB campaign against King was stepped up with the passing of civil rights legislation under President Lyndon B. Johnson. Modin arranged for articles to appear in the African press which could be reprinted in American newspapers, portraying King as an "Uncle Tom" who was secretly receiving government subsidies to tame the civil rights movement and prevent it threatening the Johnson administration.

One of the most interesting documents in the KGB archive is dated August 1967 and authorizes Modin: "To organize, through the use of KGB residency resources in the US, the publication and distribution of brochures, pamphlets, leaflets and appeals denouncing the policy of the Johnson administration on the Negro question - and exposing the brutal terrorist methods being used by the government to suppress the Negro rights movement.

In the groundbreaking book, The Sword and the The Shield: The Mitrokhin Archive and the Secret History of the KGB by Christopher Andrew and Vasili Mitrokhin published in 1999 details were obtained from The Mitrokhin Archive on Soviet efforts to replace Martin Luther King Jr. with a “more radical and malleable leader” such as Stokeley Carmichael to provoke a race war in the United States.

Pages 237 and 238 of The Sword and the Shield excerpted below detail elements of the campaign waged by Soviet intelligence and the active measures arrayed against the civil rights leader:
“In August 1967 the Centre approved an operational plan by the deputy head of Service A, Yuri Modin, former controller of the Magnificent Five, to discredit King and his chief lieutenants by placing articles in the African press, which could then be reprinted in American newspapers, portraying King as an “Uncle Tom” who was secretly receiving government subsidies to tame the civil rights movement and prevent it threatening the Johnson administration.
