- June 24, 2014 2 killed, 7 hurt in Miami shooting USA TODAY Two people were killed and seven wounded in a shooting early Tuesday in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City. "We have nobody in custody," officer Kenia Reyes, spokeswoman for the Miami police, said Tuesday evening. Men strafed a public housing building for no apparent motive beside gang revenge or drugs, though the incident also resembled a terrorist mass shooting at a military base, school or mall.
- 5 casualties 2 killed 3 injured Cajon Pass Dump Truck Loses Brakes Crushes Teens in PT Cruiser June 24, 2014 At Cajon Pass near Los Angeles, California a woman subcontractor driving a Caltrans dump truck dump truck carrying wet cement that lost control of its brakes while exiting the freeway. It drove across Highway 138, and a hit PT Cruiser pushing over an embankment and under the truck where it was completely crushed in a Shell gas station parking lot. The small PT Cruiser was carrying two Serrano High School students and three recent grads back from a trip to Huntington Beach 2 were killed and three were injured. One student had just graduated from high school. Recent-grad Nicole Lyle, 18, and 16-year-old John Cabrera were pronounced dead at the scene Their three male friends were transported in critical condition to the hospital The female driver of the dump truck was not injured in the crash
- 1 injured, 1 arrest sought June 24, 2014 McDonalds Employee Latia Harris Beats Customer on Video In Front of Crowd In Salem, New Jersey, Latia Harris was on duty at McDonald's. After an argument, she followed customer Catherine Ferreira out of the store into a park in store uniform, spit and beat her in full view of a crowd that caught the attack on video. She cursed the woman could cause her to "lose her job", and threatened with being shot during the attack. Ferreira's 2-year-old young son tried to protect his mother by kicking her assailant. She suffered eye damage and a broken nose. Harris turned herself into to police after a week, and was charged with aggravated assault and two counts of making terroristic threats.

FISHERS, Ind. - The stabbing death of a recent Fishers High School graduate has the Fishers community reeling. ... Montgomery is expected to have an initial court hearing Tuesday, at which point we may learn more about what led up to the stabbing.Police were called to the neighborhood after a fight broke out between two teens attending a house party. When police arrived, they found Shockley dead in a side yard. "Two weeks ago, we were all celebrating this wonderful event with graduation and my heart goes out to his family," said Suzanne Mandel, neighbor. Shockley, who had just graduated from Fishers High School, had been fatally stabbed. Soon after, police arrested 18-year-old Corbin Montgomery on preliminary charges of murder and involuntary manslaughter. Montgomery had just graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School.

USA TODAY Seattle campus shooting suspect to use insanity plea
The shooting at the science and engineering department's Otto Miller Hall on campus killed student Paul Lee, 19, a freshman from Portland, Ore.lawyer, Ramona Brandes, filed a notice of intent to use the insanity plea.
She has said her client has a long history of mental issues, and police in Mountlake Terrace, about 15 miles north of Seattle, confirmed that he was hospitalized twice for mental health evaluations in 2010 and 2012 after their officers' encounters with him. If convicted of all charges, Ybarra could face a sentence of up to 86 years in prison. However, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg has said he will seek an exceptional sentence that could put the 26-year-old in prison for life. Previously, Seattle police detectives wrote in charging documents that Ybarra wanted to kill as many people as possible before killing himself.
