June 4, 2014 Woman Drug User Gets Probation For Burning Oldest Cypress Tree 26-year-old Sara Barnes entered a no contest plea and sentenced to five years probation when a judge found her guilty of unlawful burning of lands, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two witnesses saw her set fire to the 3,500 year old tree, dubbed "The Senator," which burned down in January 16, 2012. Barnes told investigators she set the fire while trying to use illegal drugs.

Counter Conspiracy Theory - the judge did not find her guilty of deliberately setting the fire motivated by terrorism against the United States.
