Five children, ranging in age from 11 to 15, were shot by someone who fired from a car shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 6600 block of South Michigan Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side, police said. had been playing at a park near an elementary school and were walking home when a car pulled up and someone asked if they were in a particular gang,youngest, 11-year-old Tymisha Washington, was the most seriously wounded a 5th grader, had just hours earlier had returned from church and shared an Easter dinner with relatives. She was struck by two bullets, one that hit her chin and one that punctured a lung and broke her collarbone, her parents said.

In both instances, gang slogans were shouted by the attackers
"Why shoot innocent children that's just trying to live day to day. Why try to kill them?" Rebecca Washington, grandmother, said. "I'm just devastated my grandchildren can't even have a Sunday. Go to church, enjoy God's service, and then can't go outside to play without getting shot."
