“Resource rich but technology poor countries have always been at the mercy of the wealthy exploiter nations or more accurately, the resource extraction corporations that have the juice to get a powerful nation to subjugate the less powerful nation to the financial benefit of the wealthy. After the initial seizure of the resource point, the most corrupt and compliant of the (most often) Brownskinned factions are armer to the teeth and allowed to commit any and all atrocities required to keep the wealth flowing out, paid just enough give them the illusion of "power".

“The weapons industry is a jobs program. That's why a ship, sub, tank, or plane has component manufacture spread out across as many States as possible. Doing so insures the maximum amount of support from Senators and Representatives if ever there should be a call to end a particular program. The boondoggles the American taxpayer is forced to subsidize are many but since the oligarchs have long since relocated their factories to countries that kill union organizers and happily expose workers to toxic dangers, the only real manufacturing jobs left in America are weapons.”

“It is good that these records were released because it allows a deeper understanding of the situation. It's easy for people to look back with events that had yet to occur and berate those confronting them for not being able to see that they were coming. It is especially laughable to hear people who have never experienced total warfare across their own nation to wonder why so many people were so resistant to go "all in". The majority of the populations of Europe experienced all the brutal realities of WWI, they didn't read about it in a book. Total war, industrialized total war was something they had experienced just 20 years prior.”

“Americans have limited knowledge of history. The Vietnamese were allies against Japan in WWII and what was their reward for that? America allowed France to try and reassert it's colonial control over Vietnam when the war ended in 1945 instead of living up to the ideal that nations should have the right to control their own resources and destinies. The old empires just couldn't let go of the notions that they were important and that the "poor little monkeys" were incapable of governing themselves without the White race to guide them.
Of course, Vietnam wasn't the only nation betrayed. Poland's sovereignty was the supposed reason the British and French went to war with Germany in the first place and yet in 1945, the "West" was all to willing to abandon them to the brutality of Stalin's domination.
There are many snide remarks about the paying of respects to Vo Nguyen Giap. The American commanders who had to go up against him never had any reservations about praise for his capabilities and the victory he achieved. He took on the greatest military machine ever unleashed and freed his people. We revere the "Founding Fathers" for this achievement, we should be willing to acknowledge that we don't have a monopoly on having such people.”
