2 killed, home burned.  3 arrested, 3 pled guilty April 30, 2015 Murder Arson of Jim and Cathy Hively MN Farm  Jim and Cathy Hively were shot in their home which was burned the next day. Charged were Lyon County residents Derek M. Hexum who were accused of stealing a shotgun and pickup truck in rural Ghent and driving to victims home on a neighboring property in Balaton, Theodore A. Como,and Kyle R. Wesselink.  Hexum and Como were each charged with second-degree murder, arson and armed burglary. Wesselink was charged with arson, burglary and receiving stolen property.

March 17, 2016  Hexum pled guilty to killing Russell couple one week after he was indicted by a grand jury. Hexum told the judge a ridiculous lie and cover story that he blacked out and didn't not remember shooting anybody. Accomplaice Theodore Como and another man accused of helping set the fire also pled guilty see April 30, 2015 Murder Arson of Jim and Cathy Hively MN Farm
