He had a female accomplice, speculated to be Hayat Boumeddiene, 26.[123] It was later confirmed that Coulibaly was the gunman of Montrouge.[124] Police stormed the store, and Coulibaly was gunned down by police.[125] The current whereabouts of Hayat Boumeddiene and her degree of involvement in the siege is as of yet unknown. It is believed the store was targeted because it was a jewish market, and the hostage-takers are said to be associated with and demanded the end of the siege in Dammartin-en-Goële, and threatened to kill the hostages if they were stormed. One hostage taker was killed, the woman is said to still be at large.

2015 Vincennes hostage-taking[edit]
The branch in Vincennes in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France, is currently the site of a hostage situation on 9 January 2015.[1] The two armed people holding the hostages have been identified in the press as Amedy Coulibaly and Hayat Boumeddiene.[2] They are holding five hostages, two people are reported to have died and the hostage-takers are said to have demanded the end of the siege in Dammartin-en-Goële that followed the Charlie Hebdo shooting in central Paris on 7 January 2015.[2]
In an echo of the Je suis Charlie slogan that came out of the Charlie Hebdo shooting, several hours after the hostage crisis started a Je suis Hypercacher Facebook page was launched.[3]
