One of those arrested is said to have told police in custody that he had simply lost his way and panicked. Four people inside the car then abandoned their vehicle and fled but two - thought to have been the driver and front-seat passenger - were arrested by police on motorbikes nearby. Police believe it is not linked to "extremism" or the previous weeks's terrorist attacks. Witnesses said the driver had driven deliberately at the policewoman, and spokesman: "there is no doubt about the intention of the driver [to] hit my colleague". No names of suspects which would reveal ethnicity have been released.
