Police believe it is a domestic dispute, but as he was found with terrorist style weapons of 3 handguns and pockets full of ammunition, it is possible that shooting was wife was just a cover story and a mass mall shooting was the intended objective. No media made any mention of any possible connection to other attacks across the world, or the attack on the kosher market in Paris.

Callers to 911 reported the shooting at about 9:30 a.m 20 minutes before the mall officially opened when about 100 people were inside the mall at the time of the shooting[3] which was confirmed by the Melbourne Police Department police Cmdr.Vince Pryce and West Melbourne Police Department[4]

"We had just gotten our food to sit down by Starbucks and Chick-fil-A, and you just hear the 'pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,' and you just drop everything and your body just makes you run," said Evans

Suspects[edit]

Jose Garcia Rodriguez, 57 is believed to have been the shooter[5] and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Injured[edit]

Idanerys Garcia-Rodriguez, 33 is in stable condition at a local hospital. An unidentified male victim was killed by Jose Garcia Rodriguez

Melbourne Mayor Kathy Meehan said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between a woman who worked at the mall's food court and her husband.[citation needed]
