- 3 dead, 2 injured July 12, 2014 Pasadena Tenant-Landlord Shooting 35-year-old John Izeal Smith is in custody, and appeared to be a tenant who chased and shot his landlords. Of 3 dead, two were a man and a woman in their seventies. Two people sustained minor to moderate injuries. The gunman chased two people down a street, fatally shooting one and wounding the other, then a neighbor who tried to help was also shot and died in a driveway. The gunman barricaded himself in a nearby house and fired on police officers before he was talked into surrendering. The shooter had three weapons, but mainly used a semi-automatic rifle,
