April 21, 2013 Austin Texas before midnight, a person extinguished a small fire that turned out to be a quart-sized ammonium nitrate fertilizer bomb, the same substance that destroyed a plant in West Texas. Authorities speculated it could have been an experiment or a dry run for a larger bomb. No suspect has been identified.
December 28, 2013 Larry Charles Robbins of Austin Texas allegedly blew up a flammable gas bomb in a black trash bag, He left through a back gate that had its padlock and chain cut.Robbins had worked at Luminex Corporation, a biotechnology company just 400 feet away from explosion, and had been asked by security to leave the area. He was caught on a traffic stop with drug paraphernalia, bolt cutters, butane, a black trash bag and gunpowder commonly used in pipe bombs. He was charged Jan. 3 with possession or manufacture of a prohibited weapon and released on $15,000 bail

Robbins owned a truck found abandoned Jan. 18, 2013 near a public park at 3100 Stony Drive in Austin, the warrant said. Inside the truck was a fully automatic weapon, loaded pistol magazines, a can stuffed with fireworks and some type of fuse and ammonium nitrate pills, which are used for improvised explosive devices, the warrant said.
