Aaron Alexis Navy Yard attack: His actions, though thoroughly condemned, were explained away as the wayward and solitary acts of a mentally disturbed individual. Mental illness, Islam or revenge?: Understanding terrorism from the ... www.washingtonpost.com Sep 24, 2013 - Understanding terrorism from the Navy Yard to Pakistan to Kenya ...They rather pointed to his history of mental illness and paranoia, such as ....Aaron Alexis who perpetrated the mass killing at Washington’s Navy Yard is part of the now familiar pattern of lone gunmen striking at American society with sickening frequency. There was no rational, political, social, or religious arguments behind what Alexis did. His actions, though thoroughly condemned, were explained away as the wayward and solitary acts of a mentally disturbed individual. America made the right noises–the president said the right words–and then went about its business. The American media, after sniffing about for any Muslim connection and discovering none, did not use the word “terror” to describe the incident at the Navy Yard. Terrorism has unfortunately become a shorthand for “a violent act committed by a Muslim.”
February 13, 2014 Former Cuban Boxer Gregorio Maso Ramirez Kills Nursery Coworker Gregorio Maso Ramirez, 58, of St. Paul, turned himself in and admitted to investigators that he brought a knife to work and stabbed coworker Uriel Navarro Ortiz, 44, of Fridley. The stabbing was at the lunchroom at Bailey Nurseries in Newport Minnesota as Ramirez became enraged after Ortiz turned down an offer for a ride home. According to another worker, the offer was odd because he "hated" Ortiz". Doctors believe he has paranoid delusions due to impairments similar to Dementia Pugilistica caused by head impacts, and that he probably believed Ortiz and prison guards were trying to kill him with poison gas, and only attacked an officer to get a gun to commit suicide. His mental illness may have been due to his career when Ramirez was a member of Cuba's Olympic boxing teams in 1984 and 1988 Olympic teams and later coached its national team. DP, also known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) has been identified in some professional boxers, football players and others who may have experienced multiple concussions or head trauma. It can cause death, but this is apparently the only case ever linked to a murder.

September 10, 2013 Anna Lindh killer 'faked mental illness The Guardian Aug 29, 2011 - The man who killed the Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh in 2003 has told a newspaper that he faked mental illness during his trial... Lindh died in the early morning of 11 September 2003 after what at first appeared to be bungled purse snatching while shopping in Stockholm on the afternoon of 10 September. But rather than a snatch and grab, she was stabbed in the chest, abdomen and arms in what appeared to be a targeted attack as Lindh was not protected by bodyguards from the Swedish Security Service and it look similar to the death prime minister Olof Palme in 1986 (the first murder of a government member in modern Swedish history). Mijailo Mijailović is the self-confessed and convicted assassin, born in Stockholm, Sweden 1978 to non-Muslim parents from Serbia, where muslims are a minority. He confessed to the killing, saying voices he believes came from Jesus told him to kill, but later claims he lied to doctors that he heard voices in his head. Police believe it was not a politically motivated attack. Mijailo Mijailovic, 25, told prosecutors that he didn't know specifically who told him to kill Lindh, but said: "I think it is Jesus. That he has chosen me," according to a transcript of the confession. Mijailovic confessed Jan. 6 to the attack but told prosecutors and his defence lawyer that it was a random act. Later he admitted he was motivated by a hatred of politicians, whom he blamed for his own failings in life. His earlier claim that voices in his head had encouraged him to stab Lindh was a ploy to receive psychiatric care instead of a prison sentence, the 32-year-old told the Swedish newspaper. "I was rambling to get psychiatric care. Everything was made up. I didn't hear voices," he was quoted as saying. "The more you ramble, the more the doctors listen to you. Mijailovic also said he had taken the sedative Flunitrazepam, or Rohypnol, before the killing.
Olof Palme, Prime Minister of Sweden, was assassinated on 28 February 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden, at 23:21 hours Central European Time (22:21 UTC). Palme was fatally wounded by a single gunshot while walking home from a cinema with his wife Lisbet Palme on the central Stockholm street Sveavägen. Mrs. Palme was slightly wounded by a second shot. The couple did not have bodyguards at the time. Although more than 130 people have confessed to the murder, the case remains unsolved, and a number of theories as to who carried out the murder have been proposed.[1]
