Marine shoots, kills fellow Marine at Camp Lejeune Guard Shack

April 9, 2014 Marine shoots, kills fellow Marine at Camp Lejeune Guard Shack At Camp Lejeune North Carolina, a Marine at the main gate of a military base shot and killed another colleage inside a guard shack. The victim later died. The situation was quickly deemed to be neither a terrorist event nor an active shooter situation, as the gate was not closed and there was no lockdown. NCIS officials blamed a negligent discharge for the 5:30 p.m. shooting when a male Marine sentry standing guard negligently fired an M4 rifle at another Marine guard in the chest.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- A Marine posted at the main gate of a North Carolina base shot and killed a colleague inside a guard shack Tuesday,..occurred at around 5:30 p.m. the person was later pronounced dead at a base hospital.Fahy said the Marine who fired the shot from his M4 rifle was in custody and awaiting questioning by Naval Criminal Investigative Services.The name of the shooter, who Fahy said was a male, hasn't been released,..Fahy said the main gate remained open after the shooting,.."At no time was the base ever on lockdown," Fahy said.
 WNCT CBS Greenville, N.C. affiliate WNCT-TV quotes Capt. Joshua Smith, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the base, as saying, "The situation was very quickly ... deemed to be neither a terrorist event nor an active shooter situation."

Clearly MP's and guards need to be armed, but as we see, there was a 'good guy' with a gun and that didn't stop anything.  Guns simply make it easier for normal anger and aggression to turn deadly.  I am sure the gun nuts and the NRA shills will tell me to move somewhere else (I love how they lack basic etiquette), but they are allowed their opinions as am I, they are not entitled to their own facts.  What is wrong with common sense gun laws (registration, proof of competency, proof of licensure, proof of insurance, having to take a safety course, mandatory gun locks and gun safe?  What is wrong with sanity?

@lfitts2 What is wrong is that most of those things are a pipe dream. You could try it but there are so many guns that are off the grid right now, those things you advocate will have little effect. Registration would also allow the government to come collect those guns at a later time (witness Australia). At that point you get a percentage of guns but not the ones from the criminals. Those are facts and I am entitled to them, as are you. I also resent the fact that I would have to get a license to exercise my constitutional rights. Would you like to go get a license to speak as you like or go to the church you like? I have taken the training, I keep my guns secure. I am competent. Also, an unloaded gun is a hammer and there is no point in having one for defense. Has your home ever been invaded? Mine has.

@bothpartiesrcrooks @lfitts2Please note that after Australia collected all the "assault weapons" the murder rate went down!  This was done under a Conservative administration in Australia...maybe there is hope for sanity in the US too. 

I think and believe that the SC misread the 2nd amendment and I believe it refers to a well regulated militia.  I would point out that many people agree and that view may at some point become law I hope!
