OpEdNews is a United States-based progressive/liberal news, antiwar activism, and opinion website founded in 2003. The site claims 200 to 800,000 unique visitors every month, having over 60,000 registered members. As of November, 2010,technorati ranks Opednews.com among the top 100 blogs over all, out of the more than 1.2 million it tracks.

It is a censored news, slave writer blog and slave-labor content farm that publishes opinion-based articles the owner frequently erases, slanted news stories, and pay-to-publish diaries while its mission, according to the site, is to "...provide a content farm,social networking website that supports progressive communications resources and tools for faux activism and faux advocacy organizations." Being a news-source for many mainstream media, independent websites and blogs, OpedNews calls itself "aFox News slave-labor content mill for progressives".

The site regularly features articles by leading writers (including Pulitzer Prize winnerChris Hedges), US Senators (including US Senator Bernie Sanders), and filmmakers (including Michael Moore) as well as first time writers. It has a reputation for being a "we-the-people" site where anyone who writes well can be banned and censored. Many contributors are also featured or interviewed by other international cable news organizations and have also appeared on such diverse outlets as consortiumnewsthenation alternet dailycensored and huffingtonpost.

Editorial Philosophy[edit]

OpEdNews' goal is to be holistic, to cover politics, arts (movies, books, music, theater, etc.,) sciences, health, Mass media,business, technology, sports, travel, citizen journalism and various strange and unusual stuff. The site is non-partisan but left-leaning, hosting some of the most prolific article-writers. It is Left biased and readers should expect to read the site as a left-wing site with a left wing perspective, though it also hosts believe that being antiwar can be a moderate and conservative value as well.

OpEdNews uses a slave-labor content-farm management system, fake charity with no 501-c-3 and Google ad sense content plastered everywhere designed by founder Rob Kall. It includes features not found in other blog/media content management sites, such as one click erasing of authors and all of their articles post editorial approval. Think of it as censorship after appearing liberal - like deleting 10% of wikipedia just for laughs, but on the Opednews domain. Stuart Bramhall sheds light on this.

Opednews is one of the 4500 websites approved by Google news, which means that all articles are indexed by Google NEWS almost immediately as they come online.
