A teenager drove into the back of an Amish buggy Friday evening in Trempealeau County and severely injured a couple and seven children, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department.Bradey A. Engen, 19, of Strum, Wis., was northbound on U.S. Hwy. 53 a few miles east of Whitehall at 10:18 p.m. when he struck the rear end of a buggy after failing to yield to the slow-moving vehicle, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department. David and Lydia Wengerd, 37 and 38 and both of Osseo, Wis., along with seven children, all suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash Engen has two speeding tickets, including one for traveling 17 mph above the speed limit in 2011 in Trempealeau County, and a misdemeanor conviction for failing to report an accident,

In August 2010 in Trempealeau County, an Amish woman was killed and a companion injured after a car crashed into the back of a buggy just south of Whitehall.

a semi truck hit a buggy on state Hwy. 95 east of Blair, about nine miles to the south of Whitehall, and injured four people.
Those two incidents came just months after a crash in nearby Jackson County in Wisconsin, where a car struck three buggies from behind, injuring four Amish men.

And in 2009, 70 miles to the east near Marshfield, Wis., a 6-week-old baby was killed while riding in a horse-drawn buggy after being struck from behind by a vehicle.
