Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Attacked With Pie in Face Sacramento Mayor and former NBA star Kevin Johnson (black man) tackled and punched protester (white man) Sean Thompson, 32 who threw a pie at his face at a charity dinner. The enraged mayor landed five to 10 blows in the face to a bloody pulp. The attacker was treated at a hospital and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a public official which is a felony. He was protesting that the mayor was spending too much time worrying about a new stadium. Some wondered if the beating was justified or disproportional, and if throwing a pie was just exercising free speech.
