September 23, 2016 Cascade Mall Burlington Washington Mass Shooting Lone gunman enters the Cascade mall in Burlington, Washington and shoots people at random with his father's stolen rifle, killing four women and one man. He had met his mother for dinner, and was supposed to be at work at a gym. The next day, police quickly asked around and suspect was identified as a local resident in Oak Harbor where an officer saw him  walking calmly on the street. Suspect has been arrested and identified as 20-year-old Arcan Çetin an American citizen born in Adana, Turkey, a predominantly Muslim nation. Police believe he may have been angry over a girl, as he was said to have called out the name of a woman, and had a girlfriend who worked at a different Macy's The URL of the Cetin's Tumblr site contains the words “arcanmotherrussiavodkaak47.” His  Facebook page contains numerous references by friends to his purported fascination with guns and Russia.  On his Tumblr accounts he posts a picture of the leader of the ISIS Islamist terror group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The comment under it says, “My main dude, Abu bakr al big daddy. #al qaeda.” as well as the Supreme Leader of Iran, a nation which sponsors terror and a Julian Assange of Wikileaks book cover with the words “Mein Kampf” which was Hitler's manifesto.  On twitter he suggested that  Hillary Clinton should be on the new $10 bill. However, he also included Hitler’s wife in that list. Authorities have blamed “cannabis use” cause of his prior brushes with the law.  This assertion was relayed by addiction counselor Jim Follman.these records, Cetin also made several attempts to commit suicide and had overdosed on prescription drugs more than once.

  On September 23, 2016, Cetin bought tickets to an evening showing of the movie Snowden at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington. He propped open the theater's exit door with his cell phone and left the theater, an action reminiscent of how the 2012 Aurora shooting was carried out. However, a moviegoer found the phone and turned it into a theater kiosk, where Cetin subsequently retrieved it.^[8] Shortly before 7:00 p.m. PDT on the same day, Cetin walked into a Macy's store at the Cascade Mall with a stolen rifle and opened fire,^[9][10] killing four women and one man.^[6] The male victim died the next day at a Seattle hospital.^[11]
  Video footage of the shooting, released on October 28, showed the gunman randomly targeting his victims. He first killed a woman near some clothing racks, then approached a cosmetics counter, where he killed one man and three women. All of the victims were shot at close range, and other people present in the store were able to escape unharmed because of their distance from the shooter. Afterwards, the gunman abandoned his weapon and fled the scene in a blue four-door vehicle.^[12]
  The FBI and ATF are providing assistance to the Burlington police and Washington state police in investigating the shooting.^[13]

  Five people were killed in the shooting. They were Sarai Lara (16), a sophomore at Mount Vernon High School and cancer survivor;^[15] Chuck Eagan (61), a Boeing maintenance worker from Lake Stevens;^[16] Belinda Galde (64), a probation officer with the Snohomish County District Court;^[17] Beatrice Dotson (95), Galde's mother;^[18] and Shayla Martin (52), a make-up artist at Macy's.^[19][20]

  Cetin was charged with "premeditated intent" on five counts of aggravated murder, a charge that was upgraded from the initial charge of first-degree premeditated murder. The charge of aggravated murder is punishable by a sentence of life without parole, or by the death penalty.^[14]

  Arcan Cetin^[3] (pronounced [ar'dʒan tʃe'tin], August 20, 1996 - April 16, 2017), the sole suspect, was born in Adana, Turkey.^[21] He immigrated to the United States as a child after his mother married a U.S. citizen. Authorities initially identified him as a "permanent resident" until further investigation found that he was a naturalized American citizen.^[22] He graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 2015^[23]and worked as a bagger at the Commissary in Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.^[24][25]
  Cetin was arrested without incident on the evening of September 24 while he was walking on Oak Harbor Road at Northeast Seventh Avenue in Oak Harbor, Washington.^[23] Two days later, he confessed to the shooting.^[26] Cetin was charged with five counts of aggravated murder. He was being evaluated for mental health concerns.^[27]
  Online records show that Cetin had prior arrests; he was a defendant in seven cases in Island County District Court from 2013 to 2015 and was arrested in July 2015 on charges of assault in the fourth degree.^[23] Cetin was ordered to undergo mental health counseling which he completed in March 2016. The court also imposed an order for him not to take drugs or drink alcohol. As of August 25, 2016, no breach of the court order against Cetin had been identified.^[28]
  On April 17, 2017, it was reported that Cetin died the previous night in the Snohomish County jail.^[29][30]
  Possible motive[edit]
  Police have not yet officially released a motive for the shooting. Before Cetin's arrest, authorities stated they had no reason to believe the incident was related to terrorism.^[31][32][33] Cetin told authorities that he was interested in the activities of ISIS, but when asked if the terrorist group had inspired his actions he replied, "I can't answer that."^[8]
  On September 25, 2016, it was reported that Cetin may have been motivated by the break-up of a relationship with a worker from the Macy's store he targeted, but the ex-girlfriend had not worked there in months and currently lives in another county.^[4] Cetin was described by authorities as having called out women's names as he allegedly killed them during the shooting.^[34][8]

Amid his busy online activity, Cetin posted admiration for the Islamic State caliph al-Baghdadi and Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei and a call for Muslims to repeat “SubhanAllah” multiple times.

It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which someone who did not have jihad sympathies would post anything positive about Baghdadi or Khamenei, but the problem in Cetin’s case is that these references come without any supporting context. Dahir Adan, who stabbed nine people in a mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota last week, had a sparse social media presence, but did take the time to list the Qur’an as his favorite book on his Facebook page. Cetin, who by contrast was all over social media, never speaks about Islam or jihad – except in the posts about Baghdadi and Khamenei, and the “SubhanAllah” post. 

And so NBC News reported that “when asked on Sunday whether they could rule out terrorism as a motive, Mount Vernon police Lt. Chris Cammock said no.” It couldn’t be ruled out, but there was no initial indication that Arcan Cetin was a hardcore true believer a la Orlando jihad mass murderer Omar Mateen, who called 911 in the midst of his massacre to declare his allegiance to the Islamic State and repeatedly proclaimed that his murders were for Allah.

But Cetin could be something even worse. CBS News reported that he “was described by those who knew him as ‘creepy’ and a ‘bully,’ and he had a handful of arrests for assaulting his stepfather, as well as a DUI.” He was “reportedly ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation in August 2015, and that was completed as of March 2016.” 

He scared at least one neighbor: “Amber Cathey, 21, lived in an apartment next to Cetin for the past three months and said she was so frightened by him that she complained to apartment management and kept a stun gun handy. Cathey said she blocked him on Snapchat after he sent her a photo of his crotch. ‘He was really creepy, rude and obnoxious,’ Cathey said.”

A high school classmate recalled that Cetin “was very hurtful towards girls. He would sexually harass them. And bully a lot of them.”

So Cetin had a history of violent, abusive behavior, and sexually harassed women. Not coincidentally, he comes from a cultural that sanctifies violent, abusive behavior, particularly toward women: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them” (Qur’an 4:34). The Qur’an also teaches that Infidel women can be lawfully taken for sexual use (cf. its allowance for a man to take “captives of the right hand,” 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (33:59) The implication there is that if women do not cover themselves adequately with their outer garments, they may be abused, and that such abuse would be justified.

Arcan Cetin may not have known or cared about any of those Qur’an passages. But he may have lived in an environment in which such attitudes were taken for granted. Ex-Muslim cartoonist Bosch Fawstin has recounted how, even growing up in a secular, non-observant Muslim household, anti-Semitism and misogyny were commonplace and taken for granted. Even though no one in the house was particularly devout, no one thought to question the bedrock assumptions that Jews were evil and women were inferior.

If that is the kind of household Arcan Cetin, another apparently secular Muslim, grew up in, he and people like him should concern authorities even more than people like Omar Mateen and the San Bernardino killers, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik. Mateen, Farook and Malik were all devout and observant Muslims; Cetin, at least as far as we know right now, was not. When devout, observant Muslims who believe that the supreme being has ordered them to “kill them wherever you find them” (cf. Qur’an 2:191, 4:89, 9:5) end up doing so, it should surprise authorities who aren’t thoroughly sold out to politically correct fantasies. When, on the other hand, someone like Arcan Cetin goes jihad, his actions show that the violent jihad option is a live one even for the “moderate,” secularized Muslims upon which Western authorities are staking the future of the free world.

Arcan Cetin shows that even thoroughly assimilated Muslims who love video games and kidding around with non-Muslim friends on social media still retain a good many Islamic cultural attitudes that are incompatible with Western culture, and, at times of personal crisis, may pick up a rifle and start shooting.

This is a case that proponents of the massive Muslim migrant influx into the West should ponder. But they won’t.

SEATTLE - Records obtained by the KING 5 Investigators showed a Kirkland mental health facility  tried to involuntarily commit the suspected Cascade Mall shooter last year.  ...doctors at Fairfax Hospital told a King County judge they were gravely concerned about Arcan Cetin....doctor checked a box indicating he was worried Cetin would harm himself. (but not others)  A separate box indicating Ceton might harm others was not checked. It is unclear from these records whether or not Cetin was involuntarily admitted to the hospital. I went to boot camp in Orlando Florida, then went to Aviation Structures School in Millington Tennesee, then to p-3 Framp School at NAS Moffett Field California. My first comand was VQ-1 stationed in Agana Guam, where I worked O-level on A-3 and P-3 aircraft. While stationed there I also spent time in Atsugi Japan, Osan Korea, Cubi Point Philippines, Singapor, Shemya Alaska, and Okanawa Japan. When I left VQ-1 I went to Aviation Welding School in Oakland California, from there I went to my second duty station Adak Alaska, where I worked I level on P-3 and C-130 aircraft. When I left Adak I went to C-130 Framp School in El Torro California, from there I went to my 3rd duty station VRC-50 on NAS Cubi Point, Olongapo City Phililppines where I worked O level on C-130 S-3 and C-2 aircraft. While I was there I met and married my first wife Nelma Valezuela, she already had a son that I took in as my own his name is Antonel Valenzuela. My son Edward Marshall ( named after my dad ) was also born there. We did the home port change from Cubi Point to Aderson AFB in Guam where my 2nd son, Justin Marshall was born. While sationed with VRC-50 I also spent time in Okinawa Japan, Hong Kong, Singapor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Phuket, and Pattia Beach Thailand, Sri Lanka, Al Fujairah United Arab Emirates, Abu Dahbi UAE, Bahrain, Djibouiti Africa, Mombasa Kenya Somalia, Diego Garcia, and the most beutiful place I have ever seen Seychelles. From VRC-50 I went to VA-128 at NAS Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor Washington where I worked O level on the A-6 aircraft, then to VAQ-129 also at Whidbey Island working O level on the EA-6B aircraft then to VAQ-133 also Whidbey and O level EA-6B while at VAQ-133 me and Nelma went through a divorce because she was cheeting on me. She got custody of the boys and most of what we owned. At about the same time my brother Rod fell off of some scafolding and broke his back. the doctors said he would most likely be i a wheelchair the rest of his life, they were wrong. It took him a couple of years, but he is walking with crutches now and maybe forever, but he is strong and the best way to get him to do something is to tell him he is not able.

 Also while at VAQ-133 I spent time at Prince Sultan AFB in Saudi Arabia, Incirlik AFB in Adana Turkey, Pensicola Florida, Nellis AFB, in Las Vegas Nevada, and Elmondorf AFB ia Anchorage Alaska. While on my last trip to Turkey I met and married my current wife Hatice (pronounced ha-t-j) Cetin, she also had son that I took as my own his name is Arcan ( pronounced are-john) Cetin. I was not able to bring them back to the states right away so I left them in Turkey and went back to Whidbey Island. After VAQ-133 I went back to VAQ-129 and waited for visa approval for my new wife and son. After more than a year they finally were approved and came to Oak Harbor.

A law enforcement source confirmed to Q13 FOX News that

A Twitter page in Cetin’s name (identified as his page by the New York Times) contains this 2015 post:

In another post on Twitter, Cetin suggested Hillary Clinton should be on the new $10 bill. However, he also included Hitler’s wife in that list.

However, a woman has tweeted that the voting comment was a sarcastic response to a football game.

She claims he was actually a conservative and a member of a rifle club and ROTC. She writes that the Hillary Clinton comment related to a Green Bay Packers/Seattle Seahawks game. She has also posted political commentary of her own as well as a post that Cetin made wishing people a Merry Christmas. Asked whether she actually knew Cetin, though, she responded “not at all.”

The Tumblr page is in the name of Arcan Cetin. It contains the exact same photo of Cetin that appears on the Twitter page in Cetin’s name; the latter Twitter page was identified by the New York Times as the alleged mall gunman’s Twitter page. The URL of the Tumblr site contains the words “arcanmotherrussiavodkaak47.” The Facebook page of the alleged gunman, identified as his by the Times and many other media outlets, contains numerous references by friends to his purported fascination with guns and Russia.

On the Tumblr page, a post contains a reference to Allah and a person who responds uses the word Jannah, which is the term for the Muslim paradise.

A friend on Facebook wrote, “TBH: Cetin, you are hilarious bro :D It’s guys like you that make me love rotc.” Another friend wrote, “Truth is you are pretty good at rifle team but I think if I join I could do better Jk. Haha.”

Police released this photo on Twitter after capturing the alleged gunman. They wrote: “OFFICIAL: Here is a DOL photo of the suspect: Arcan Cetin, 20-yr-old Oak Harbor resident.” (Facebook/Arcan Cetin)

Another friend wrote on Cetin’s Facebook page in 2012, “You remind me of Wrath, cuz you know a lot about weapons and stuff, and I can imagine you taking out a lot of soldiers by yourself. :o”

Most of Cetin’s public posts on Facebook and Twitter, though, don’t appear to be political in nature outside the above, although friends wrote that he had a strange affection for Russia.

“Lol to be honest, I kind of miss your russian accent, even though you’re not russian,” one friend wrote on Cetin’s Facebook page in 2012. In 2010, Cetin posted on Facebook: “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

He wrote a comment under a man’s letter to a local newspaper. The letter writer was supporting President Obama and the Democratic agenda, and Cetin wrote in response, “Sounds like communism to me.”

In one Facebook message on his page, though, a friend wrote, “Truth is: You are a very odd character. You were always going on about being Russain and stuff like that, but under that you really supported America (or so it seemed to me) and I always thought that was really cool. Maybe we will have ROTC together again next year! :D even if we don’t, try to keep up with the Mother Russia thing!”

Cetin responded: “haha thx im still goin at it. I have 1st period rotc.” Cetin even wrote a comment in Russian on his page.

The New York Daily News reported that Cetin “is a legal, permanent resident that lives in Oak Harbor.”

McCaul: Well, I think there was a good chance it could be. I know right now law enforcement, FBI is playing it safe, saying there are no links to terrorism. That’s true at least from the evidence so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out more details about this individual, as well as we did Mr. [Ahmad Khan] Rahami.
Thus far, police have suggested that a likely motive for Cetin could have been personal, as his ex-girlfriend worked at the Macy’s store in the mall where the shooting began.

Sounds like this wasn’t terrorism. I mean, if he killed his ex-girlfriend and her grandmother, that is just domestic vengeance from jilted love. So chalk this one up to normal evil instead of radical Islamic evil.

Of course nothing changes the fact that if this Muslim had not been allowed in to this nation, he couldn’t have been here to shoot his ex-girlfriend and a bunch of others. His Islamic religion may very well have played into his callous disregard for infidel life.

But this one looks more like ex lover vengeance than it does domestic terrorism. But evil is evil.

Arcan Cetin is the suspect in the Cascade Mall shooting in Burlington, Washington, that killed five people on September 23. man accused of killing five people inside a Washington state shopping mall has been named as Arcan Cetin. Around 7 p.m. September 23, a gunman opened fire inside a Macy’s store at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington. Police describe the shooter as “darker complected” with his age estimated in the “late teens or early 20s.” Cetin is 20 years old. The shooter fled the scene before police arrived and remains at large amid a massive manhunt. The fatal victims have been described as four females — ranking in ages from 16 to 95 — and one male. Their exact ages have not been released.

Cetin was arrested without incident nearly 24 hours after the shooting in Oak Harbor, Washington, about 30 miles from Burlington. 

KIRO’s Gary Horcher reported during the search that someone identifying himself as the shooter has contacted police. The shooting began just after 7 p.m. inside one of the Macy’s stores in the mall, reports KOMO. 

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Mark Francis told the media that he couldn’t comment on reports that the gunman had called out a woman’s name before opening fire, according to Q13 Fox. The gunman was armed with what appeared to be a hunting rifle.

At a press conference, Mount Vernon police Lt. Chris Cammock said, “I don’t know what his motivations were. I don’t know what his motivations were to do this.

Initial descriptions had described Cetin as being Hispanic. According to his Facebook page, Cetin is a native of Adana in Turkey. He’s a graduate of Oak Harbor High School, class of 2015. Cetin describes his nickname as “The Turk.” As of 2014, he was in a relationship. While in high school, Cetin was in ROTC.

o a letter in the Whidbey News-Times in May 2013 praising President Obama and Washington Governor Jay Inslee, Cetin commented that the pair’s liberalism “sounds like Communism.” On his Twitter page, which hasn’t been updated since the summer of 2015, Cetin recommended Hillary Clinton and “Hitler’s wife” to be the new face of the ten dollar bill.

A tweet of Cetin’s from January 2015 led some on social media to believe he was a supporter of Hillary Clinton’s. The message, “We win I vote for Hillary Clinton,” was apparently a reference to the Seattle Seahawks defeating the Green Bay Packers, according to a friend. That friend added that Cetin “was a conservative in rifle club & ROTC.” Online records show no party affiliation in his voting history.

The photo released of the active shooter at Cascade Mall. An active shooter killed five people - four women and a man - at the Cascade shopping mall in Burlington, Washington, a community located about an hour from Seattle. The man remained at large on September 24, the day after the Friday evening shooting, so police released multiple surveillance video images of the man and are seeking the community's assistance in locating him. The man began shooting people in the makeup area of the Macy's store in the mall, according to KIRO 7. The man murdered people ranging from a teenager to senior citizens, police said in a news conference on Saturday, September 24. The identities of the victims had not yet been released. Police have not yet released a motive for the shooting, including whether it could be tied to terrorism. According to USA Today, two of the people the man shot were elderly women. USA Today quoted Joe Zavala of Blaine, Wash., an eyewitness who said, “I saw a man pointing a gun and shooting people” before Zavala took off running. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing black and carrying a rifle, USA Today said. The mall shooting comes as the nation remains on high alert after a mass stabbing in Minnesota and the IED explosion in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. Suspects were arrested in both of those cases, although it's too preliminary to know whether there is any connection to the Washington attack. KIRO 7 said a massive manhunt was underway for the gunman and he was last seen walking toward an Interstate near the mall. People were warned to stay cautious and alert because the gunman was still at large.
