AVERAGE 1 POLICE CHASE DEATH PER DAY IN 2013
USA Today: According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 322 police chase-related deaths in 2013, the most recent year for which there are statistics available. A USA TODAY investigation published in September, however, found those statistics overlooked another 101 deaths that year that should have been counted. An earlier USA TODAY report, in July, found that as many as one-fourth of those killed in police pursuits were bystanders and another one-fourth were passengers in cars fleeing police.
