January 31, 2014 Minneapolis Good Samaritan Shot By Devon Parker In Minneapolis, Minnesota, elderly veteran Thomas Sonnenberg called 911 after letting in Davon Parker who claimed to be chased by men with baseball bats. The police found Sonnenberg shot to death by his own gun, and arrested Parker, who was due to appear in court, and had been acting erratically in previous weeks
October 17, 2013 Man Hijacks Arkansas School Bus Nicholas John Miller, a white male who works at a warehouse used a knife and threats to hijack a school bus, and took over driving. He kept driving through red lights and striking guard rails when pursued by a police car with flashing lights, but drove off the highway where he surrendered before reaching tire spikes laid to stop the bus. Miller's cover story was that he was running from people after him, and was only trying to save his own life, not hurt anybody in the bus. Miller was charged with vehicle piracy, 12 counts of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of fleeing, one count of DWI-Drugs, one count of refusal, and one count of reckless driving. Just the week before, Miller was arrested for terroristic threats in a domestic dispute when he was he was high on methamphetamine. The month before, Miller was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on a traffic stop for improper license plate tags. In May, Miller was arrested breaking in to a car and stealing cash and guns.
Seattle Yacht Club Boat Rampage September 15, 2013 22-year-old Texas man visiting Washington Michael Bray was naked from waist down when commandeered the Para-a-gon, a 42-foot Bayliner yacht at the Queen City Yacht Club in Seattle. He had broken into the locked cabin to find the keys. He went on a rampage ramming other boats and docks before citizen Dave Svensen borrowed a gun and wounded him in the face and hands with a shotgun because he was about to hit a boat where someone lived aboard. He was hospitalized having caused an estimated $483,000 damage. He told police a cover story that he drank a six-pack of beer and was taking ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms, and that he was a CIA agent who had to knock an "asian female ninja" from a Steven Segal movie off the boat who had been shooting at him.
September 14, 2013 Random Stabbing Kills Professor after Sounders soccer game After a Seattle Sounders soccer game, suspect 44 year old Donnell Jackson was arrested after he stabbed english professor Troy Wolff to death as he defended his partner Kristin Ito who was also stabbed but survived. The suspect dropped the knife and he told arresting officers that he saw the man aim a gun at him at the train station and the victims were part of a group holding people hostage in South Seattle.., and he recorded the whole thing on a cellphone that he threw onto the railroad tracks. Described as a black male who was "dangerous and mentally ill", Jackson told police he was schizophrenic and off his medication for months and his family was worried about his mental health. He had violated his probation in California for setting a grass fire near a highway.
February 11, 2013 Nhan Lap Tran Shoots At Random Cars in Oakdale MNNear St Paul Vietnamese immigrant Nhan Lap Tran fires at and hits passing cars with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun. He killed 9 year old fourth grader Devin Aryal, who was in his car seat in his mother's minivan. His stated motive was "noisy cars made him shoot randomly". His first contact with police was in September 2011 to report a suspicious vehicle. In June 2012 he applied for a permit to buy a handgun. He called police again Jan. 21, 2013 to report he was being stalked, and argued with the officer taking his call that he could not shot at people that were following him, but the officer did not consider Tran to be a threat that needed to be reported. Tran told investigators: "cars had been following me around for a while and people driving cars were revving their engines while parked outside my home in order to wake me up from me sleep,"
